Eastern Carolina Asthma Prevention Program - ECAPP

Eastern Carolina Asthma Prevention Program - ECAPP ECAPP ECAPP's objective is aimed at reducing asthma among children ages 5-17 throughout eastern NC.

The Eastern Carolina Asthma Prevention Program (ECAPP) is a collaborative project between ECU Brody School of Medicine, Department of Public Health and Vidant Medical Pediatric Program. ECAPP is a community based, environmental intervention program that provides in-home visits to low-income and ethnically diverse families who have children with asthma. Our goals are to
1) Improve the health of chi

2) Help parents and children learn and improve self-management skills such as using medication properly and learn what to do when asthma symptoms worsen
4) Increase access to medical care and improve communication with health care providers

The Asthma Management App Device and Platform is now available for funding on Indiegogo! The app is a suite of tech-focused tools for the best asthma management. This dedicated 19-person team has developed a device that will help predict when a child is about to have an asthma attack. The device will provide real-time data that can be shared with researchers to help in the search for a cure for asthma. Along with the device, they are developing an educational platform to teach children and parents how to control asthma symptoms, and a home inspection tool that can be used to ensure that asthmatics are living in a safe environment.

Help support this cause in time for Asthma Awareness Month! Their project webpage is at:
