We are excited to feature Kennedi Jeter, , as our June volunteer of the month! Kennedi Jeter will be competing for Miss South Carolina and her pageant starts June 13th.

Kennedi is a graduate of USC Upstate with a degree in Mass Communications and has been part of the Miss America Opportunity for the past five years. Through that experience, she developed her platform, Mending Minds Meets Ministry, which focuses on mental health awareness, education, and access to resources in schools, churches, and communities.

Her work is deeply personal. After losing her mother to leukemia at just twelve years old, Kennedi began navigating high-functioning anxiety and depression, which led her to create a platform centered on breaking stigma and helping others feel seen and supported. Through this work, she has reached over 5,000 students, educators, parents, and faith leaders by sharing her story, educating others on mental health, and offering practical tools for coping and healing.

When Kennedi first reached out to our organization, it was immediately clear that she was genuine and intentional about this work. Since then, she has consistently shown up. She’s made every effort to support outreach efforts, both alongside our team and on her own. She is one of our most dedicated volunteers, and her heart for serving others is evident in everything she does.

We are truly grateful to have Kennedi as part of our community! 💙

Our Executive Director, Tiffney Davidson-Parker, joined mental health advocates and leaders from across the country to learn, connect, and bring back new ideas that will strengthen our work here in the Upstate.

We’re grateful for opportunities like these that help us continue building a more informed, supportive, and stigma-free community.

There is often a strong focus on men’s physical health—fitness, annual checkups, and heart health—but mental well-being is equally as important because mental health is health!

Just as the body needs care and attention, so does emotional and mental well-being. Yet, there is a silent crisis in men’s mental health—one that too often goes unnoticed or unspoken. Men are nearly four times more likely to die by su***de than women, underscoring the urgent need to break this silence and seek support.

Small steps to care for mental health can lead to significant change. Let’s build a culture where men feel safe speaking up and reaching out. As a community, we can break the stigma, support one another, and ensure no one struggles in silence.
