Romantic feelings are normal, but it’s easy to let those emotions take control of your life. The most important thing is to guard your heart. By guarding your heart, you can approach crushes and romantic relationships in a healthy, wise, and respectful way. This was the main teaching idea behind our spring retreat theme: Guard Your Heart♥️
During different teaching and small group sessions we broke down what this practically looks like and how to look to God’s Word for wisdom. Some of the verses we discussed were:
“My son, pay attention to what I say; turn your ear to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to one’s whole body. Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”
- Proverbs 4:20-23
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
- Jeremiah 29:11
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”
- 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
We were so impressed with how each student shared their thoughts and questions in response to the teaching material, and how they contributed to small group conversations 💛
