Best Singer in the State / Region / District

The Best Singer in the State was a state-wide singing competition/fundraiser that benefitted local music programs from 2011 through 2019.

Then Covid came along. This is the official page. Students all over South Carolina from age 7 and up were getting their acts together! In the fall of 2015, we went from being student-only to having an adult division as well. The opportunity to share talent in front of an enthusiastic audience was an amazing reward in itself. Just being a part of an uplifting event can catapult a performer

to a whole new level. Who Competed: Contest was open to all legal residents of South Carolina, students ages 7 and up, including homeschooled students, and adults age 18 and up, including college students. Trophies were awarded for the top scorer in the Youth Division and Adult Division. Both winners received a grand prize of $2500.00, and the Youth Best Singer in the State got the opportunity to open for nationally known artists at the Arizona Open concert held every October in Greenville, SC. We also did our best to get the winners books on local TV to sing their winning song. Covid brought that and the competition itself to an end.

We're happy to see a familiar face in a current competition! It's the 2019 Duet Division winner Brian Garner competing in Greer Idol!

Meet the Greer Idol Contestants: Brian Garner
Brian is a native of the Upstate, veteran of the USMC, and a devoted husband and father. Brian began singing when he was a kid but did not start performing for others until high school. After winning a school talent show, Brian began singing in front of others more often as a hobby. His greatest accomplishment in singing was making an un-televised appearance in front of the American Idol judges on ABC. Brian attributes music and singing to meeting the love of his life, Rachel, whom they mutually fell in love over each other’s voices. Along with his wife, Brian is currently the title holder for “Best Singer in the State/Duet Division” presented by the Pitch Doctors LLC. Brian is excited to entertain you this summer and hopes to claim the title of your next Greer Idol!

Wishes for a blessed Thanksgiving are yours from all of us at the Best Singer in the State. The pandemic took our season away, but it hasn't taken the music in our hearts. We look forward to the day we can bring our competition back to your communities.

Hey Friends! Tune In on Monday, July 13 to see Jermarius Evans, our 2019 Best Singer in the Region, singing live on TV on WGGS TV Nite Line @ 8pm. If you have Spectrum/Charter it will be on Channel 6 and Direct TV Channel 16!

Jamarius recently recovered from COVID-19, and we’re thrilled that he is able to perform again!

Hey there, how are you holding up? I found this little singing contest for those who sing Christian/inspirational music. (Contest involves recording yourself singing with one of their tracks. Prizes are for purchasing such music from the company hosting the contest.)

Due to the rain, sleet and snow we are rescheduling our live show to be sure all our guests and crew are traveling in safe conditions.
Tune in at 8pm EST on WGGS TV-16 to watch a great show we had with Richard South.

Our Story

Since 2011, Best Singer in the District/Best Singer in the State has been motivating and encouraging South Carolina residents to pursue their dreams. Students all over South Carolina from age 8 and up are getting their acts together! The opportunity to share your talent in front of an enthusiastic audience is an amazing reward in itself. Just being a part of an uplifting event can catapult a performer to a whole new level of confidence and professionalism. Who Competes: Contest is open to legal residents of South Carolina who are students ages 7 to 17, including homeschooled students, and adults age 18 and up, including college students. 1st & 2nd place awards will be given out in the youth, adult, and duet divisions. The 1st place winners of the youth and adult divisions will each be awarded a grand prize of $2500.00, while the winning duet will receive a $500 cash prize. The youth winner has the opportunity to open for nationally known artists at the Arizona Open concert held every October in Greenville, SC.
