The American Legion Post 3 Greenville SC The American Legion is a nonpartisan, not-for-profit organization with great political influence perpetuated by its grass-roots involvement.

Our Post 3 in Greenville, SC was chartered just after the Legion was formed, in 1919. In addition to the Post facility, we maintain an active and acclaimed Military/War Museum, open and free to the public on weekends. The American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is the nation’s largest wartime veterans service organization, committed to mentoring youth and sponsorship of wholesome programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow service members and veterans. The American Legion is a nonpartisan, not-for-profit organization with great political influence perpetuated by its grass-roots involvement in the legislation process from local districts to Capitol Hill. Legionnaires’ sense of obligation to community, state and nation drives an honest advocacy for veterans in Washington. The Legion stands behind the issues most important to the nation's veterans community, backed by resolutions passed by volunteer leadership. The American Legion’s success depends entirely on active membership, participation and volunteerism. The organization belongs to the people it serves and the communities in which it thrives.

Veteran Coffee Muster: Building Connection Through Camaraderie
American Legion Post 3 is proud to launch the Veteran Coffee Muster, a recurring gathering created to provide veterans throughout the Upstate with a welcoming place to connect, share conversation, build relationships, and enjoy the camaraderie that comes from time spent with fellow veterans.
The Veteran Coffee Muster is more than a cup of coffee. It is an opportunity to strengthen the veteran community by creating a consistent place where veterans from every branch, era, and background can meet one another, reconnect with the military community, learn about available resources, and simply spend time among people who understand the experience of service.
The kickoff will be held Saturday, August 22, from 0800–1100, with the Veteran Coffee Muster continuing every 2nd and 4th Saturday from 0800–1100.
Veterans do not have to be members of the American Legion to participate. All veterans are encouraged to stop by, grab a cup of coffee, pull up a chair, and join the conversation.

American Legion Post 3 Serving Our Community
On August 8, the leadership and members of American Legion Post 3 rolled up their sleeves and took to the roadside for our recent Adopt-A-Highway Litter Cleanup.
The cleanup was more than picking up litter—it was another demonstration of the Legion’s commitment to service, leadership, civic responsibility, and community pride. Post 3 members worked together to help improve the appearance and cleanliness of our adopted roadway while demonstrating that service does not end when the uniform comes off.
American Legion Post 3 is proud to continue the tradition of veterans serving their communities and setting the example through action.

The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 3 will be hosting another Legion Family Breakfast on Saturday, 21 February 2026 from 9 to 11 AM, in the downstairs below the Museum. The cost is $7 per person, and the food is fantastic! All proceeds go to support the Palmetto Girls State program. Come for the fellowship, great food, and to support a good cause. We thank the Auxiliary for all the support they provide to Post 3.

Saturday, 7 March will be our next “Adopt-A-Highway” litter pickup. We will meet at 9 a.m. at our regular assembly point, the intersection of State Park Road and Mountain Creek Road (near the Parkwood Baptist Church). More hands make the pickup go more quickly.
