✨ BIG impact. Small change. ✨

We’re launching something new at Holding Mothers… and we want YOU to be part of it 💛

Local businesses can now support moms in our community by simply asking customers to round up their purchase to the nearest dollar. That extra change goes directly to helping provide essentials, resources, and support for mothers who need it most.

✔️ No cost to the business
✔️ Quick and easy to implement
✔️ Flexible options (one day, one week, monthly, or ongoing)
✔️ Real, local impact

It’s such a small ask… but together, it adds up in a powerful way.

If you’re a business owner (or know one!), send us a message and we’ll get you set up 🙌

Let’s make caring for moms part of everyday moments.

Lack of support during pregnancy and the postpartum period can have real effects on both maternal and infant health. For example, more than half of new mothers in the U.S. miss critical postpartum checkups, which are important for catching health concerns early, because of barriers like transportation, childcare, or cost. Missing these appointments can make it harder to spot issues that affect long-term health for both the parent and baby.

Research also shows that consistent practical and emotional support during pregnancy and after birth is linked with lower stress and better mental health outcomes. When support is limited, mothers are more likely to experience anxiety, difficulty bonding with their infant, and feelings of isolation.

Early, practical assistance—whether that means access to essential supplies, connections to community resources, or just someone to help carry a load—can reduce stress and improve outcomes for families over time. That is part of what we focus on at Holding Mothers.

A single donation can make a real difference for families in upstate South Carolina. Your support helps provide essential baby supplies like diapers, formula, and clothing, as well as maternal items that support parents during pregnancy and the early months of parenting.

Every contribution, no matter the size, helps reduce stress for families and gives parents the resources they need to focus on what matters most: bonding with their baby, recovering from childbirth, and building stability for their household.

Your generosity doesn’t just provide items, it provides peace of mind, practical support, and a sense that these parents are not facing this season alone. Thank you for helping Holding Mothers continue to support families in our community.

Cold weather can be a little intimidating with a newborn, especially if this is your first winter together. A few simple precautions can go a long way in keeping babies comfortable and safe during colder months.

Cold weather tips for newborns:

- Dress babies in one more layer than you would wear yourself. If you are comfortable, they usually will be too.

- Skip bulky coats in car seats. Use thin layers and add a blanket over the harness once baby is buckled.

- Keep indoor temperatures steady and avoid placing babies near drafty windows or vents.

- Check baby’s chest or back to gauge warmth rather than hands or feet, which often feel cooler.

- Limit prolonged exposure to cold and watch for signs of discomfort like fussiness or cool skin.

Newborns cannot regulate their body temperature well, so small adjustments make a big difference. Staying warm does not require anything fancy, just thoughtful layering and attention.

What does impact look like?
It looks like a mother who does not have to choose between buying diapers and paying a bill. It looks like fewer impossible decisions during a season that is already demanding enough.

For many families in upstate South Carolina, even small gaps in support can create overwhelming stress. When basic needs are met, parents are able to focus more fully on their health, their children, and building stability for their families.

The impact of this work is often quiet, but it is real. Reduced stress, increased consistency, and a sense of relief that comes from knowing help is available. These moments add up, strengthening families and supporting healthier outcomes over time.

This is what community care looks like in practice, and why supporting mothers matters.

Access to basic baby and maternal supplies is not guaranteed for many families in upstate South Carolina. For some parents, this means making difficult choices between necessities or trying to stretch already limited resources even further during pregnancy and the early months of parenting.

Holding Mothers exists to help bridge that gap. We provide essential baby and maternal items and connect parents with additional resources so they are not navigating this season alone through our community baby shower. Our focus is on practical, timely support that meets families where they are and respects their dignity.

When parents have access to the supplies and support they need, stress is reduced and families are better able to focus on health, bonding, and stability. This kind of support may seem simple, but it has a real and lasting impact on the well-being of both mothers and babies in our community.

This work is rooted right here in upstate South Carolina, and it is made possible through community support and shared commitment to caring for families.
