We'll explore time loops, time travel, relativity, and other time-related phenomena as they are depicted in the movies. The science of time will be described and applied to movies such as Groundhog Day, Interstellar, and the Terminator. Hoping for a vigorous discussion! Our new bike racks from The Steel Yard are such perfect examples of public art that we weren't sure if it would be immediately apparent that they serve a functional purpose as well. The situation called for a starter bike. A huge thank you to the Smithfield Police Department and Sergeant Cory Carpenter, who immediately came through with a loaner bike to get the party started. We love the final result! The apple design reflects our location in the heart of Apple Valley, and the town's historic roots as home to several important apple orchards.

Happy Memorial Day! Memorial Day commemorates and remembers the U.S. military personnel who have died in service. Unfortunately, Smithfield no longer hosts a parade, but if you would like to attend a Memorial Day event, Balfour-Cole American Legion Post 64 hosts a ceremony at the Veteran’s Memorial in Deerfield Park every Memorial Day at 11:00am. 🎇

Shout out to Val's English Tea and Pie Shop - their children's tea event last week raised $1,500 to benefit our children's room. Thank you to shop owner Sharon for arranging the event and sharing an etiquette lesson. We promise to always mind our manners! ☕🇬🇧💂

Happy Mother’s Day! Today, let’s celebrate all the moms in our lives. Back in 1997, the Observer asked a group of 4th graders to explain, “why I love my mom,” and the answers were as adorable as you would expect! 🌸👪
