For more than a decade, Bob Landry has been an incredibly important part of East Carolina Aquatics. During that time, he has given countless hours to ECA and to the sport of swimming.
Bob currently serves as President of the ECA Board of Directors, but his involvement in swimming goes well beyond ECA. He has served as a Meet Referee at some of the biggest meets in North Carolina, including NCS Championship meets and NCHSAA State Championships. He serves on the North Carolina Swimming Officials Committee and was recently named the NCHSAA Eastern Swimming and Diving Association Regional Supervisor.
Bob has also taken his involvement to the national level as a member of USA Swimming’s Operational Risk Committee.
All of those titles are impressive, but they do not really explain what Bob has meant to ECA or, more importantly, the kind of person he is.
Away from the pool, Bob is a loving husband to Robin and a dedicated father to David, Will, and Andrew. The same qualities that have made him so important to his family are easy to see in the way he has given his time and energy to ECA for so many years.
The totality of Bob’s impact on ECA is difficult to measure because his influence can be felt in nearly every aspect of the organization. Whether working a meet, offering advice, helping solve a problem, or simply being someone ECA can depend on, Bob has always been willing to do whatever is needed. His commitment has never been about recognition or a title. It comes from a genuine love for the sport, the organization, and the people who are part of it.
More than a decade of that kind of commitment says far more about Bob than any list of positions ever could.
East Carolina Aquatics is incredibly fortunate to have had Bob Landry in its corner for more than a decade. ECA is better because of him. Thank you, Bob, for everything you have done and continue to do for ECA and for swimming.
