What is the gospel need in Nova Scotia?

Some of its many fishing villages have small churches, many without a pastor.

From the famous Peggy’s Cove Lighthouse in Nova Scotia, you can look toward Maine, Boston, and New York City; toward Newfoundland; and across the North Atlantic Ocean to Europe.

Nova Scotia needs men who will preach God’s Word: “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4).

Pray for Todd and Sarah Hudson, missionaries in Austria, as they await Sarah’s surgery in Buenos Aires, Argentina on Saturday, October 10th.

The church family will step up to the plate to serve and also to welcome those who are jumping in to help with ministry while the Hudsons are away.

Will you pray for God to open doors of opportunity for gospel witness especially among the surgical team?

How common is isolation and loneliness among pastors?

What are ways to cultivate friendships as pastors?

The ministry requires pastors to spend time alone studying the Word and praying, and it can be tempting to stop reaching out to others.

In this episode of RE:CHURCH, Marshall Fant discusses with Dan Pelletier, pastor of Hamilton Square Baptist Church, some warning signs that a person has become isolated and what to do to avoid it. Speaking of how he fights discouragement, Pastor Dan says, “By focusing on others, I stay encouraged.”

As a teen, Martín Valcárcel was inspired by a song to look for a wife to whom he could give his heart, soul, and life. At Bible college, he thought he had found the one. But Linda wasn’t so sure. She thought they should only be friends.

In God’s providence, Martín and Linda had already agreed to go together to a missions conference. It would be their last date. What happened there?

Happy 90th birthday to Chris Dewey! The GFA staff surprised her with an Aloha-themed party in honor of her many summers serving with BJU mission teams in Hawaii.

Since 2008, Chris has been working at GFA, and she is still working four days a week! Her faithfulness and love for the Lord and the missionaries is a blessing and challenge to us all.

Where are the men like Robert Morrison, that stodgy pioneering missionary to China, who prayed “that God would station [him] in that part of the missionary field where the difficulties were greatest and to all human appearances, the most insurmountable?”

Where are the men who would dare to pray a prayer like that? Or even to desire such a thing?
