For more than 12 years, the Mississippi Farm to School Network has worked to lift up the life-changing work carried out by educators and farmers across Mississippi. Since 2024, the Mississippi Farm to ECE Coalition has dedicated more than 150 hours to developing a statewide recognition program designed to support and celebrate early care and education programs implementing Farm to ECE.

Now, we’re asking our community to help bring this vision to life. Our goal is to raise $6,000 to enlist six technical assistance providers and coaches who will support ECE programs across Mississippi as they work toward recognition.

🍓 $10 provides a gardening book for an ECE classroom
🌱 $50 helps provide a coach and Farm to ECE resources
🌻 $100 provides two months of coaching support
🌿 $500 provides one year of qualified guidance

Through Farm to ECE, programs connect children with local agriculture while creating meaningful learning experiences through gardens, local food, nutrition education, and hands-on activities. These experiences help children build healthy habits, engage families, support Mississippi farmers, and connect classroom learning to the real world.

We are thrilled to share a new grant opportunity from the Mississippi Humanities Council! The Mississippi Stories Grant will support projects that preserve and share the firsthand stories of people across Mississippi. Funded by the Mississippi Legislature and the Mississippi Department of Archives and History, this new program encourages organizations to bring these stories to life through exhibits, podcasts, documentary films, digital storytelling, oral history projects, and more.
Grants of up to $5,000 will be awarded three times each year, and no matching funds will be required during 2026 and 2027. We hope this makes it even easier for organizations to create projects that connect people with Mississippi's history and culture.
Join MHC staff for a free informational webinar on Wednesday, August 5, at 10 a.m. about the grant program, application process, and tips for submitting a strong proposal. Registration is live, and a recording will be available for everyone who can't attend live or wants to rewatch. The grant guidelines are already available, so you can review them before the webinar and come ready with questions.

Learn how USDA programs, services, and conservation resources can help support your farming operation by joining this informative virtual workshop hosted by Alcorn State University Extension Program in partnership with USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service.

These hands-on events are for Mississippi youth of all ages, designed to spark curiosity and connection through fun, interactive activities that teach about agriculture, food systems, nutrition, and where their food comes from.
