Congratulations to the National Young Marine of the Year (NYMOY) 2026-2027, YM SgtMaj Quinn Lawton!

Upstate Young Marines is also the National Unit of the Year 2026 (second award)!

And our Unit Commander Sergeant Major James Roberts, Jr., USMC (Ret), received the Distinguished Volunteer Award (2nd Award), the highest honor bestowed upon an Adult Volunteer in the Young Marines for his dedication and enthusiasm for serving the youth, his community, and the Young Marines program since 2010. UC Roberts was presented with this prestigious award by Colonel Bill Davis (USMC, Ret.), CEO of the Young Marines of the Marine Corps League and Jim Breen (USMC), Department Commandant of Marine Corps League Department of South Carolina.

Our instructors began lessons and physical training today with a new group of recruits. YM/SgtMaj Lawton, our Division 2 Young Marine of the Year, stopped by to motivate and encourage the recruits. He also took time to answer their questions and share insights from his experience in the program. Opportunities like this help inspire our newest members as they begin their Young Marines journey.

We are proud of our very own, Young Marine Sergeant Major Francis “Quinn” Lawton V, being the only returning candidate among the Division Sergeants Major, competing for the prestigious title of National Young Marine of the Year (NYMOY) in March 2026. Way to go and Congratulations YM SgtMaj Lawton! 🥳👏🏽🎉
