Behind every intervention is a student facing a challenge that could have pulled them away from school.โ€‹

Through OnTrack Greenville, United Way of Greenville County and Greenville County Schools work together to identify barriers early and connect students with the support they need, whether that's mental health services, academic assistance, mentoring, or other community resources.โ€‹

This school year, 602 interventions supported 506 students, helping them stay connected, engaged, and on the path toward graduation.โ€‹

When schools and communities work together to address challenges before they become crises, students have a greater opportunity to succeed.

A successful tax season starts with dedicated volunteers.

Recently, we celebrated the incredible volunteers who made this year's VITA program possible. Thanks to their time and expertise, thousands of Greenville County residents received free tax preparation services and kept more of their hard-earned money.

This tax season, VITA helped file 3,084 tax returns in Greenville County, resulting in:
๐Ÿ’ฐ $4,992,043 in refunds
๐Ÿ’ฐ $1,154,350 in Earned Income Credit
๐Ÿ’ฐ $745,260 in Child Tax Credits
๐Ÿ’ฐ $616,800 saved in tax preparation fees

Thank you to our volunteers for making this impact possible and helping individuals and families across Greenville County build greater financial stability.

They applied. They pitched. They WON. ๐Ÿ†๐ŸŽ“

What an incredible evening at the African American Leadership's Celebration of Scholars & Bold Ideas event at Southern First Bank! Graduating seniors from across Greenville County gathered to receive scholarships awarded in honor of Judge Merl F. Code and the legacy of Marvin Monroe Ward. A special shoutout to our Pitch Competition finalists who stepped up and presented their bold ideas live before judges, community leaders and a full audience.

Congratulations to all 2026 AAL Scholarship recipients. Your future is bright!

A heartfelt thank you to our corporate partner, Messer Construction Co. Their team showed up for Hands On Greenville Day, rolling up their sleeves alongside us to make a difference in the community.โ€‹

We love how Vice President Erin Thompson put it:โ€‹
"For our Messer Greenville team, Hands On Greenville Day reinforced the culture we're proud ofโ€”showing up for one another, working side by side, and living out our purpose of Building Better Lives for our customers, community, and each other."

Heavy Metal is one of many programs funded by United Way of Greenville County that provides students with hands-on experience and real-world career exposure.

In 2025, the program reached 59 students across welding, robotics, cybersecurity, diesel technology, machine tool, and construction. Because of donors like you, students are building the skills, confidence, and certifications they need to be career ready for their future.

You can learn more about this impact and other funded partners in our annual report. Link in bio.

We are heartbroken to learn of the passing of former WYFF 4 General Manager John Humphries. John was a passionate advocate for our community and a strong supporter of our work, serving as a member of our Board of Directors from 2016 until 2021.

As a broadcaster and leader in our community, John understood the power of using his voice to lift up others. Through his weekly editorial broadcasts, he championed causes that mattered deeply to him, including our fight against poverty. Whether he was sharing the impact of our work on air or rolling up his sleeves as a volunteer at School Tools and Hands On Greenville Day โ€” always with a smile and a few lines from his favorite musical, Hamilton โ€” John brought joy to everything he did and everyone around him.

His impact on this community will be felt for years to come. All of us at United Way extend our condolences to Johnโ€™s family, loved ones and his former team at WYFF 4.
