Genesis Homes is a South Carolina 501(c)(3) tax-exempt corporation. The Corporation is lead by an executive committee and Board of Directors. The Board, which meets quarterly and as required to conduct the business of the Corporation, consists of influential members of the Greenville community and includes representation from the neighborhoods of current and future redevelopment plans. es grew from a seed at Greenville's First Baptist Church. FBC's Minister of Community Relations, Dr. Baxter Wynn, planted that seed in fertile ground. Members of the church took the task of nurturing that idea by learning about the community's needs and how private and public resources coould be leveraged to help it grow. And with an initial grant from FBC, the Corporation organized, secured 501(c)(3) status and began the arduous certifications and fundraising processes. Genesis Homes is led by Executive Director, Jim Childress. Jim is a retired BellSouth executive and has been with Genesis Homes since its formation in 2006. The other staff member is Carolyn Wilson, a Duke Energy retiree, who serves as the Tenant Relations Manager and has been with Genesis Homes since 2010.
