Central Area Michigan Works Youth

Central Area Michigan Works Youth We assist out-of-school youth in Montcalm & Ionia counties by helping youth learn lasting skills for long-term career goals.

Our facilitators help youth plan for the future, address academic and career goals, and overcome the details of daily life. Our program will meet the needs of youth by providing access to job training and post-secondary education opportunities to assist youth in gaining the knowledge and skills required to enter high-wage high demand occupations. Skill attainment, career development, and academic

improvement activities will be available to eligible youth who are low-income, out-of-school (OSY), aged 14-21 with one or more of the following barriers to employment: (1) deficient in basic literacy skills; (2) a school dropout; (3) homeless, a runaway, or in foster care; (4) pregnant, or parenting; (5) an offender; or (6) an individual (including a youth with a disability) who requires additional assistance to complete an educational program or to secure and hold employment.
