Greenville County SC CERT Free emergency response training for people who live, work, or worship in Greenville County, South C

Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their community and trains them in basic disaster response skills. Participants gain hands-on experience in the following sessions:

1) Basic Disaster Preparedness
2) Basic Fire Suppression
3) Disaster Medical Operations 1: Triage & Treating Life Threatening Injuries
4) Disaste

r Medical Operations 2: Assessment, Treatment, and Hygiene
5) Light Search & Rescue
6) Team Organization & Disaster Psychology
7) Terrorism & CERT
8) Final Exercise

Greenville County CERT typically offers the 20-hrs of training over an 8-week period, meeting once a week from 6:00-8:30pm on a weeknight. The course culminates in a final exercise, where participants can practice using the skills they have learned during the classes. Upon completion of the program, participants also receive a free backpack filled with emergency response supplies. Classes typically start in the spring and fall, but with enough interest we have been conducting summer training sessions as well. 🚨 Could you help your family, neighbors, or community when disaster strikes?

Now is your opportunity to gain the knowledge and skills to make a difference.

Registration is now open for the Greenville County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Fall Training Program! This FREEhybrid course teaches everyday citizens how to prepare for emergencies, respond safely to disasters, and support their community when professional responders are overwhelmed.

The training includes:
✔️ Self-paced online lessons
✔️ Hands-on, in-person practical training (dates will be announced after the online portion)
✔️ FREE participation
✔️ Open to adults and teens ages 13 and older

Whether you're interested in becoming more prepared at home, helping your neighborhood, or serving your community during emergencies, CERT provides valuable skills that can make a real difference. Participants who successfully complete the training may also have the opportunity to advance to Greenville County's Advanced CERT Team if they are interested and meet program qualifications.
