This season has brought transition and renewal to the work Canterbury Counseling Center is doing through our GAP program at The Landing, a low-barrier drop-in center for youth experiencing homelessness at Pendleton Place. With many new faces joining the community, we’ve been focusing on one of the most important foundations of trauma-informed care: building trust, connection, and safety.

Today’s group activity invited participants to “step in” if they related to different statements read aloud. Some were lighthearted, while others reflected personal struggles, self-perception, and difficult life experiences. Participants were encouraged to look around and notice who else stepped in alongside them.

Moments like these remind us that healing often begins with realizing you are not alone. Through connection, vulnerability, and shared experiences, group members discovered they have far more in common than they may have realized.

We are grateful to witness these moments of courage, belonging, and growth alongside our community partners.

What began as a vision for compassionate, accessible care is expanding into something even greater… a SECOND LOCATION designed to reach more individuals, more families, and more hearts in need of support.

At Canterbury Counseling Center, our mission has always been clear to provide accessible, compassionate counseling that fosters healing, hope and while person wellness in our community.

And now… we’re taking that next step forward.

More spaces.
More services.
More opportunities for healing.

Because the need is growing- so are we. Stay close. Big updates are coming soon.

Our hearts are full after an incredible Gather & Grow event! 💚

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to every supporter, sponsor, and attendee who came together to champion the mission of Canterbury Counseling Center. Your generosity, encouragement, and belief in accessible mental health care make all the difference.

We are pleased to share that the event raised a total of $2,375. This is an incredible improvement from last year’s total of $400.

Because of you, we are able to continue providing compassionate support and life-changing services to individuals and families in our community.

Together, we are growing hope, healing, and connection.

From all of us at Canterbury Counseling Center—thank you for being part of this journey.

Mental Health Awareness Month is an opportunity to recognize that growth is not linear, and no one moves at the same pace. By supporting one another, we create environments where progress is possible for everyone. It’s a reminder to lead with empathy, encourage open conversations, and prioritize well‑being as an essential part of a healthy community. When we acknowledge each person’s journey and offer understanding instead of judgment, we help make space for real, sustainable growth.
