Our Story
The Greenville Women's League (GWL) is a service organization comprised of women from Pitt County coming together to support our community. We are all thankful for the opportunity to volunteer our time and serve our friends and neighbors locally.
Our largest fundraising event, Bunco for Breast Cancer, is held every year in October. Proceeds from this event benefit Gardener's for Hope, the Joan Balch Breast Cancer Fund to assist individuals ungoing breast cancer treatment in eastern NC. We have raised over $160,000 for Gardener’s for Hope over the past 15 years. In the spring, GWL hosts Run for a Reason 5k to support a local organization in the community.
GWL participates in service events in our community such as serving dinner at the Hope Lodge, building and filling a free little pantry and free little library in our town, decorating the Vidant Children’s Hospital lobby for Christmas and visiting the children with the Easter Bunny in the spring, assisting with the Distinguished Young Women of Pitt County Program and funding local scholarships. We also raise funds/items to meet needs in the community. Through various events, we are able to support other organizations/individuals in our community such as Riley’s Army, Vidant Children’s Hospital, JDRF, JOY Soup Kitchen, Packs for Patriots, Angel Tree at Christmas, etc.
Greenville Women’s League is open to all women who are interested in serving one another through volunteer work while building friendship and community with one another.
