Seniors are invited to attend Senior Voucher Distribution Day at the Greer Farmers Market on Sunday, June 14, from 11 AM–2 PM in Greer City Park.

Senior Action will be onsite with a clearly marked booth to assist eligible Greenville County seniors in receiving their vouchers. With all seven participating voucher vendors attending that day, seniors will have the opportunity to receive and use their vouchers while shopping for fresh fruits, vegetables, honey, and more.

Market staff and volunteers will be available throughout the event to ensure the experience is easy, welcoming, and enjoyable. The event provides a wonderful opportunity for seniors to connect with fresh, local food while exploring the many resources and offerings available at the market.

Se invita a las personas mayores a asistir al Día de Distribución de Vales para Personas Mayores en el Mercado de Agricultores de Greer el domingo 14 de junio, de 11:00 a. m. a 2:00 p. m., en Greer City Park.

Senior Action estará presente con un puesto claramente identificado para ayudar a las personas mayores elegibles del condado de Greenville a recibir sus vales. Con la participación de los siete vendedores autorizados para aceptar los vales, los asistentes tendrán la oportunidad de recibir y utilizar sus vales mientras compran frutas frescas, verduras, miel y otros productos locales.

The Greater Good Greenville proclamation made its way to our office, passed to us by our friends at Upstate Warrior Solution, who do remarkable work supporting veterans, first responders, and their families across the region.

We signed our name to it, took a moment to appreciate what it represents (over 150 nonprofits in Greenville County, all pulling in the same direction) and passed it on to our neighbors at the Jewish Federation of Upstate South Carolina to add their mark.

Greenville is stronger because of the people doing this work. LiveWell is grateful to be in such good company.

When our offices were located at McAlister Square, we remember seeing folks using that former mall space as a great walking track. What are some spots that you or your loved ones go to walk when the weather isn’t cooperating?

We know that walking is one of the gentlest ways to take care of ourselves (and one of the best-studied). Regular walks support memory, balance, mood, and heart health, especially as we get older. May is Older Americans Month, a good reminder that “movement” doesn’t need to be ambitious to be worthwhile.

One indoor option worth knowing about: Well Walkers at Bon Secours Wellness Arena. Free, climate-controlled, flat, a quarter mile per lap on the concourse. St. Francis Sports Medicine staff are on-site each session, and dietitians often join.
