Please join us in welcoming two new additions to the Blue Ridge Council Staff!
Jillian White will serve as the second District Executive for the Three Rivers District. She will be the primary point of contact while Charlie is at Camp Old Indian this summer.
With a background in Social Studies education, Jillian brings a passion for helping youth develop leadership, civic understanding, and life skills. Her experience in education has fostered a passion for teaching critical thinking, and an appreciation for diverse perspectives and cultures. Through Scouting, she is excited to help young people grow into responsible, service-oriented individuals who are prepared to make a positive impact in their communities and beyond.
In 2019, she began her Scouting journey at the Summit Bechtel Reserve as an Archery instructor. After experiencing the World Scout Jamboree, she decided to return for an additional 4 summers, eventually working her way to Marksman Director. After 5 years of service at SBR, she then returned home to the Indian Waters Council in 2025 to serve as the Archery and High Adventure director.
She brings a strong background of leadership skills and additional skills such as the ability to establish positive connections with youth and adults, as well as promote safety on and off the range.
In her personal time, Jillian enjoys gardening, fishkeeping, and volunteering at local scouting events.
Our second newest addition to our staff is Camilo Ruiz, Camilo will serve the Swamp Rabbit District as their District Associate!
With a deep passion for children's development and growth, Camilo's journey of service began early through a lifetime of volunteering within his faith community at Lifesong Church in Lyman, SC, where he has dedicated countless hours to the Kids Life program, investing directly in the lives of young people.
Camilo joins Scouting America as a District Associate, bringing with him over 10 years of professional experience in relationship-building, client services, community engagement, and organizational leadership. His background spans roles in financial advising, client care, and operations management, all centered around connecting with people, communicating with purpose, and leading with integrity.
During his time at Sound of Hope, Camilo worked directly with children through Auditory Integration Training, an educational approach using music as a tool for development further deepening his commitment to finding creative, meaningful ways to help young people thrive.
What truly sets Camilo apart is his heart for family and children. A father of four, two of whom are adopted, Camilo also opened his home as a foster parent last year, demonstrating a commitment to the well-being of children in his community.
He brings a strong foundation of leadership and a proven ability to build meaningful relationships across diverse communities, faith organizations, and local partners.
In his personal time, Camilo is most at home with his family, continuing to serve his church community and pouring into the next generation one life at a time.
