The books are officially closed, the alarms are turned off, and summer break is HERE.

That meant only one thing for the kids in our shelter: pizza and ice cream time!

A huge thank you to Domino's Pizza Greenville, TX for donating the pizza and Braum's Ice Cream & Dairy Stores Greenville, TX for the ice cream that helped our families celebrate the start of summer the right way.

Moments like this matter more than you know. A fun afternoon, full bellies, sticky ice cream smiles, and getting to just be kids for a while. 💜

A huge thank you to the F.L. YOUNG FOUNDATION for providing grant funding to help us make security upgrades at our shelter.

For those who come to us from abusive situations, having a safe place to stay is so very important. These upgrades will help provide peace of mind and allow families to focus on healing and rebuilding their lives.

We are also extremely grateful to an anonymous donor who stepped forward to match this funding, helping us continue creating a safe haven for those who need it most. 💜

We are so grateful for the incredible community members who came together to help restock WIN’s shelter with much-needed protein for the families we serve.

A special thank you to Board Member Chad Stephenson, Board Member Paige Spradling, Judge Bobby Stovall, Judge Keli Aiken, and Judge Andy Bench for helping make this possible.

We also want to recognize the local FFA students who raised the animals that helped supply this food for our shelter. What makes this even more meaningful is knowing these young people understood that their hard work would directly support clients staying at WIN. Their pride, compassion, and willingness to be part of something bigger are a beautiful reminder of the heart of our community.

Because of this support, families in shelter will have nourishing meals and feel the care of a community standing beside them. Thank you for supporting WIN and the survivors we serve.

This last week, six WIN staff members had the honor of attending the annual Crimes Against Women Conference in Dallas.

We are especially grateful to the Rockwall County District Attorney’s Office for sponsoring four staff registrations and helping make this training opportunity possible.

The week began with WIN’s Executive Director attending the Expert Witness Pre-Conference Program, followed by several days of education, connection, and learning alongside professionals from across the U.S. who are committed to better serving survivors every day.

We are thankful for opportunities like this that strengthen our team, our partnerships, and our mission.

Thank you to the Johnson County Family Crisis for welcoming WIN’s Executive Director, Director of Operations, and Director of Outreach and Communications to tour your facility and learn more about the incredible work you are doing for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

We are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate and connect with other leaders across Texas who share the same heart for providing safety, advocacy, shelter, and support to those in crisis. By working together as a network, we strengthen our ability to serve survivors, support families, and continue bringing hope and healing to our communities.

Someone has been secretly showing up and mulching our flower beds, and honestly, it looks amazing!

Over the past few weeks, someone has quietly been showing up and spreading fresh mulch around our property. It’s little acts like this that remind us how special our community truly is.

So to our Mystery Mulcher: thank you for making our space a little brighter (and a lot prettier). You’ve officially become a legend around here.
