Bond County CEO had a busy morning where we discussed the wild world of communication. From nonverbal cues and body language to confidently breaking the ice and steering conversation, students practiced their communication skills while getting to know more about each other and discovering shared interests.

CEO students develop networking and relationship-building skills that come in useful when working together on their group business, touring Bond County business, and meeting guest speakers.

Three cheers for Double J Doggie Play N Stay - Greenville, Jason Prichard, and Joey Iberg!

This morning, Bond County CEO toured the sprawling facilities and grounds of Greenville’s beloved dog grooming, daycare, and boarding facility. Co-owner Jason shared his career history and what led him and his wife, Jess, to become full-time entrepreneurs and eventually employing over 40 people throughout their three locations in two cities.

If you’ve met Jason, you know his passion for the communities that Double J serves, fellow small businesses, and the supportive network of entrepreneurs he has cultivated. All of this work is done with Joey Iberg, Jason’s right and (sometimes) left hand man.

Double J is also an Investor in Bond County CEO, financially supporting the experiential, entrepreneurial program that serves both Bond County high school’s seniors and juniors.

Thank you for your commitment to CEO and for another great morning at Double J!

Today, Bond County CEO visited the City of Greenville, Illinois Visitors Center and Plaza on Second with our Facilitator Jes Adam, who also fills the role of Tourism Director for the City of Greenville.

Jes taught the students about the Plaza Project’s beginnings, the grant funding that made the project possible, what stood on the grounds before, and the many phases of development the project went through before being opened to the public.

Plaza on Second is the new home for Greenville events and concerts, offering a food truck court, performance area, visitors center, public restrooms, a water feature, and more to come.

Something as simple as developing a great handshake makes a difference!

CEO students meet a LOT of people. From networking events to business visits to guest speakers, we interact with hundred of people throughout the academic year.

Our CEO Facilitator Jes Adam teaches the foundations of making a great first impression in several ways. Yet, the most infamous test comes when students are blindfolded and rate their peers handshaking skills.

Blind feedback is more meaningful and useful as our students refine their skills and prepare for the year ahead.

Meet the Bond County CEO Class of 2027!

Fourteen students. Two high schools. Eight seniors. Six juniors. And one year that will ask each of them to do things they’ve never done before.

These students have chosen to start their mornings early, step outside their comfort zones, and learn about business in a way that can’t happen from behind a desk.

Throughout the year, they’ll meet and learn from local business and community leaders, visit businesses throughout Bond County, work together as a team, build their professional networks, and gain firsthand experience in entrepreneurship, leadership, communication, finance and the many moving pieces that make a business work.

Eventually, each student will take what they’ve learned and build a business of their own, culminating in our Spring Trade Show.

There will be plenty of challenges along the way. That’s part of CEO.

Our job isn’t simply to teach these 14 students about business. It’s to give them opportunities to practice it, to become more confident walking into a room, asking good questions, making connections, solving problems and discovering what they’re capable of.

We’re very excited to introduce the Bond County CEO Class of 2027. You’ll be seeing a lot more of them this year.

This week included the last day of class for the 2026 Class of Bond County CEO!

Penelope was the only available student for the last day of class. To celebrate and talk about the future, Jes and Penelope had a “casual day” and enjoyed breakfast at Greenville’s iconic Corner Cafe.

Throughout the year, they have visited many Bond County businesses, learned from the guidance of many of Body County’s community leaders and business owners, cultivated professional relationships with their volunteer mentors, worked together and independently to create and develop businesses that can dramatically change their lives.

Penelope, Taylor, and Dominic, we are so very proud of you and the work you have done. We hope this transformative experience stays with you throughout your lives as you graduate and start your life’s next chapter.
