Attention all!!!!!
Just so everyone is on the same page Benjamin March and I are going to try and slowly get the club back up and running again. Leadership is being transferred over to us.This means we have been added as admin on Facebook and will be trying to start having meetings again.

It has come to my attention that at least a couple of you are not happy with the changes so this is your chance now if you have a problem with Benjamin March or Tommy Flynn being the new leadership speak now!

Our main goal for the near future is to start the club meetings back up and be an active club!!! I would love to have a swap and meet soon...

While this is an extraordinary specimen, goldfish do grow to a very large size and require a filtered tank that is at least 40 gallons. Goldfish have a lifespan of around 30 years, and contrary to the stereotypes (the attention span of a goldfish), they are highly intelligent and inquisitive animals.

Goldfish were domesticated in China almost 1,000 years ago, and were prized pets/status symbols of the upper class and royalty. The original "gold" color goldfish was only allowed to be kept by royalty, so the more common orange variety was developed.

Goldfish were often placed in display containers when company was around, and were returned to their pond after being admired for a short period. It is because of this tradition that the common misconception (and often abusive practice) of keeping goldfish in unfiltered bowls was born. Fish do not "grow to the size of their environment", and the practice of keeping goldfish in bowls is unethical and cruel. These fish were practically deified in ancient China, and the shameful conditions in which goldfish are often kept (due to misinformation and commercialization) is a mockery of their beauty and magnificence.

Take some time to get to know the incredible history and adaptations which goldfish have developed thanks to the domestication process. You won't be sorry!
