Homes of Hope Homes of Hope opens doors for economic mobility through housing, economic and workforce development.

Founded in 1998, Homes of Hope rebuilds communities and individual lives through housing, economic mobility and job training. The organization’s housing programs include rental and homeownership options coupled with connecting housing clients to economic mobility opportunities with a focus on budgeting, banking and building assets. Its Men’s Workforce Development Program is a one-year residential

program for men overcoming drug and alcohol addictions in which the program participants train in the area of specialized constructed-related job training, Christian discipleship, mentoring, life skills and resources for economic mobility. Since it began, Homes of Hope has developed 704 homes, graduated 337 men and invested over $83 million in community and economic development.

We’re celebrating an incredible investment in our interns and their futures! 🎉

We are deeply grateful to Buncombe Street Methodist Church for a generous $20,000 grant supporting our Men’s Workforce Development program.

This gift helps us continue investing directly in our interns as they build skills, confidence, and brighter futures. Through our Men’s Workforce Development program, interns are supported as they navigate their recovery journeys, gain the tools they need to move forward, and work toward lasting stability, not only for themselves, but for generations to come.

Housing shapes childhood. It shapes opportunity. It shapes the future.

Homes of Hope was honored to participate in the Housing Innovation: Children's Edition Listening Session hosted by the Institute for Child Success at Greenville Technical College.

This statewide initiative brought together community members, service providers, advocates, and policymakers to hear the lived experiences of families and explore how housing impacts the health, stability, and well-being of South Carolina's youngest children.

We were especially proud of our President, Dawn Dowden, who shared her personal story and reflected on the transformative power of stable housing, opportunity, and community support.

We are grateful to the Institute for Child Success and the many partners who created space for these important conversations. Lasting solutions begin with listening, and we were honored to contribute to the dialogue as we continue working to ensure every child and every family has the opportunity to thrive.

💚 Because investing in housing is investing in hope.

✨ Last week, we had the privilege of celebrating Matthew and the hard work, dedication, and perseverance that led him to graduate from the Homes of Hope Men's Workforce Development program. 🎉

It was an evening filled with hope, encouragement, and a powerful reminder that recovery, second chances, and lasting transformation are possible. We are incredibly proud of Matthew and look forward to seeing all that God has in store as he begins this exciting new chapter.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate, encourage, and support Matthew on this meaningful milestone. Your presence made the evening even more special and demonstrated the power of community in helping individuals rebuild their lives.

💬 Listening is where meaningful change begins.

Recently, Homes of Hope hosted a Tenant Challenge Focus Group, bringing residents together to share their experiences with finding and maintaining stable housing.

The conversation was honest, thoughtful, and incredibly valuable. By listening to the people who experience these challenges firsthand, we gain a deeper understanding of what's working, where barriers exist, and how we can better support individuals and families in our community.

We believe the people closest to these challenges are also closest to the solutions. Every story shared, every perspective offered, and every conversation helps us identify opportunities for meaningful change—not only within our own work, but alongside others committed to expanding access to safe, stable, and affordable housing.

A heartfelt thank you to each resident who took the time to share your experiences. Your voice matters, and we're grateful for the trust you placed in us.

We're also thankful to the Greenville Housing Fund for supporting this conversation and to our partners across the Greenville Affordable Housing Coalition for helping make it possible.
