Fall arrived.
The leaves are changing, falling and so are the temps.
And now this…

Daylight Saving Time ends in two weeks, on Sunday, November 1. The time changes at 2:00 a.m., when most people are asleep. Consider changing your clocks before bed on Halloween night, Saturday, October 31, to avoid confusion in the morning! 🎃

Of course, not all states abide by Daylight Saving Time. Most of the states do, but Hawaii and most of Arizona do not. One notable exception in Arizona is the Navajo Nation—they do observe Daylight Saving Time. The U.S. territories of American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands also do not observe Daylight Saving Time.

Common perception is that Daylight Saving Time was created to help farmers gain more time in the fields. However, that lore isn't true. The United States started using Daylight Saving Time in 1918 during World War I to help reduce the use of electricity.

Oh yes, we are so glad there are Octobers!

Here at the 4 acre grounds of our GCGC headquarters, fall is putting on a show everywhere you look!

Saturday, October 17th, 10:00-3:00,
please join us for our annual Fall Festival and a plant sale.

There will be fun activities for children (of all ages), educational opportunities, plants donated by our many garden club members, spring bulbs for sale, baked goods and over 30 vendors with a variety of items.

It’s one of our fundraisers that help us to maintain the historic Kilgore-Lewis House and grounds. We appreciate your support!

See you Saturday!

Something we all need to know…

National Fire Prevention Week is Oct. 4–8! overcharging household devices can create a fire risk. Help keep your home safe:

🔌 Unplug devices once they’re fully charged.
🔥 Charge devices away from flammable materials like beds, couches and blankets.
⚡ Use chargers and cords that are in good condition and designed for your device.

A few simple charging habits can help prevent fires. Stay safe and charge smart!
