A photograph. A mysterious album. And a story that asks us to look more closely at history.

“Here There Are Blueberries” is now playing at our MAC Art Card partner, The Warehouse Theatre.

Created by Moisés Kaufman and Amanda Gronich, this documentary-style play tells the true story of a collection of photographs from Auschwitz that arrived at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in 2007. The images show N**i SS personnel at work and at leisure.

What follows is part historical investigation, part theatrical exploration, and a deeply unsettling look at the people behind the photographs, and the questions they leave us with.

Here There Are Blueberries runs through October 4 at The Warehouse Theatre in Greenville.

What happens when a community puts its skills to work for others? The Greenville Woodworkers Guild has been doing just that since 1981.

With approximately 1000 members, the Guild provides a place for woodworkers to learn, create, teach, and share their craft—but their impact extends far beyond the workshop.

Members build practical items for local organizations, create handcrafted toys for children, complete projects for Scouts, and make special lidded bowls for children receiving cancer treatment to collect their Beads of Courage.

And they give their knowledge, too—more than 6,000 hours of classes and mentoring each year. It’s a wonderful reminder that art and craftsmanship aren’t only about what we make. They’re also about what we can give to our community.

See their exhibition now at the Metropolitan Arts Council Dolly F. Pardi Gallery through October 16. The gallery is open Monday through Friday 9 to 5 with a break for lunch.

Congrats to Gerri Green on an excellent opening for her show “Escape to the Mountains” at Centre Stage Gallery. It will be up until October 23. You can see her exhibition during box office hours or get tickets to the new show Rumors that will open soon at Centre Stage Theatre and see her work when you go to the performance.
