Public Education Partners Founded in 1985, our mission is to strengthen, support, and advance public education in Greenville County.

We champion teachers, equip families, and advance collaboration. Formerly The Alliance for Quality Education, Public Education Partners works exclusively to improve public education in Greenville County by engaging the community in supporting programs to increase student achievement and in advocating for excellence in K-12 education. A local education fund established in 1985, Public Education Partners helps teachers and students keep pace with the increasing demands of the 21st century.

🌱 Niki Ferrell, a 4K teacher at Dunbar Child Development Center in Greer, has been awarded a PEP Up! Your Classroom Grant to create a new school garden where her students can get their hands dirty (and their curiosity growing)!

With new raised garden beds, soil, and vegetable and flower seeds, about 160 students schoolwide will have the chance to explore science, ecosystems, life cycles and healthy eating.

And the learning won’t stop in the garden. Students will work together to care for their plants and may even partner with their cafeteria to turn their homegrown vegetables into something delicious.

For Kristy Buchanan, PEP’s Teacher Fellows program changed the way she thought about advocacy. She learned that educators don’t have to wait for someone else to speak up, and that one informed, engaged voice really can make a difference.

“Advocacy no longer feels intimidating; it feels like part of my responsibility as an educator,” she said.

Through this paid PEP fellowship, educators in Greenville County Schools build leadership and advocacy skills, connect with fellow teachers and community leaders, and gain a deeper understanding of how education policy is shaped.

This summer, Tyler Pool (center) brought so much energy, initiative, and heart to PEP. She truly took ownership of our community engagement and outreach work, helping us connect with families and our broader Greenville community in meaningful ways.

As the daughter of educators, Tyler brought a personal passion for public education to everything she did, and it showed. We’re so grateful for the creativity, enthusiasm, and care she shared with our team this summer as part of the RISE program at the Riley Institute at Furman University.

✨ Welcome Elementary is creating a new space where teachers can learn, collaborate, and recharge.

The school has received a $1,500 Mullins Community Hub Grant from PEP to continue developing its PLC Palace, a space designed for weekly Professional Learning Community meetings, instructional planning, coaching, and school improvement work. But it’s also a place for teachers to pause, reset, and recharge during the school day.

“This balance is intentional,” said Principal Dr. Wallace Cobbs (shown with PEP's Taylor McLeer above). “We want the room to reflect the reality that strong teaching requires both professional preparation and personal renewal.”

We were so excited to kick off another year with our Future Teacher Leadership Board yesterday! All 24 students from high schools across the district joined PEP and FTA for their first meeting of the year, which included professional development Conscious Discipline from Ellen Hampshire (Greenville County Schools) and Caitlin Scott (Mauldin High School). Students also kicked off their partnership service project with PEP, got to know their fellow board members, and had lunch provided by Chick-Fil-A of Greer! Thank you all for joining us!

Tomorrow, a Greenville County Schools alum becomes a teacher.

Joey Muolo grew up in Greenville County Schools, graduated from the University of South Carolina, and tomorrow will welcome his very first students as a seventh-grade math teacher at Sevier Middle School.

As he prepared for his first classroom this summer, Joey worked at a STEAM camp job and used his paychecks to purchase supplies, decorations, and resources for his students. đź’ś

Now, he’s ready to begin the journey he’s been working toward for years, and to give back to the community that helped shape him. “I’m excited to grow alongside my students and create a classroom where they feel supported, challenged, and encouraged to succeed,” he said.

We can’t wait to see all the good things ahead for Joey and his first class of Falcons! 🦅

📚 Our Little Book Stops brought free books and literacy resources to three schools, Brook Glenn, Oakview, and Skyland Elementary, during their Meet the Teacher nights this week as part of PEP’s Let’s Go Literacy program.

Students got to choose books of their very own and families got reading tips to take home too. ❤️

At Skyland Elementary, Literacy Specialist Samantha Tate shared this sweet moment: “We had one student standing in the atrium reading while teachers and parents were talking all around him. He simply couldn't put the book down…”

Our Little Book Stops can also pop up at your school or community literacy event, bringing free books and literacy resources directly to young readers. đź“© Email [email protected] to learn more!
