Aces for Autism NC Child Development Center

Aces for Autism NC Child Development Center In August 2014, a group of families and business leaders met to organize a fundraiser for Samuel Robinson.

Samuel benefited from intensive treatment at ABC of NC in Winston-Salem, NC. Samuel’s parents, Kyle and Bobbie, felt lead to do something more that would not only impact their son, but families and children affected by autism throughout eastern North Carolina for years to come. Aces for Autism, a not-for-profit organization, was formed and quickly gained community support from not only families af

fected by autism, but from many medical and business leaders in the eastern North Carolina community including Vidant and Dr. Michael Reichel (founder of ECU Family Autism Clinic). In 2016, Aces for Autism began providing center based services for children and families affected by autism. Aces for Autism provides doctor prescribed, evidence based therapies that will significantly impact the lives of children with autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) and their families. In addition, Aces for Autism created a program to provide services for families that could not otherwise afford them. Aces for Autism Child Development Center has been funded primarily through private donations, grants, public funding and fundraisers.

Our kiddos had so much fun at Painted Peacock painting their very own mugs! From mixing bright colors to creating designs that were completely unique to them, their creativity really shined through.

We loved seeing each personality come to life through their artwork, and we can’t wait for them to take their finished mugs home to their families!

Today we created the cutest beach-themed pudding parfaits with two flavors of pudding, crushed graham crackers “sand,” and teddy bears relaxing under umbrellas and beach chairs! 🧸

The best part is watching our kids grow each week through cooking activities, from trying new foods to vocalizing more and exploring new textures and mixing skills!

Summer fun has officially begun! 🏖️

Creativity was in full bloom for our Winterville group during their visit to Emerge Gallery & Art Center!

Our instructor guided the group through creating their very own beach-themed clay platters, and each one turned out beautifully unique.

Participants rolled out the clay, smoothed it by hand, pressed seashells into the surface to create beach-inspired textures, and painted their platters using the colors of their choice.

These special creations will be ready for pickup in just a few weeks, just in time to bring home for summer and share with their families!

We loved seeing everyone step outside their comfort zones, explore their creativity, and make each project uniquely their own.

Experiences like these build confidence, encourage self-expression, and create lasting memories along the way.

Such a fun and meaningful trip for our Winterville group!

Today, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Their courage, sacrifice, and love for others made freedoms we often take for granted possible. We remember those who never made it home, and we hold close the families who continue to carry their memory each day.

At Aces for Autism, we are deeply grateful for the selfless sacrifice of our fallen heroes. Their legacy of service and courage will never be forgotten. 🇺🇸

Earlier this week, the Greenville clinic had the opportunity to visit the Nest Egg Playroom for a morning full of imagination, exploration, and fun! From pretending to shop for groceries and cooking in the play kitchen to flying a helicopter and building in a construction zone, every corner brought a new adventure to life.

The interactive stations quickly became favorites as the kids explored sensory bins, raced cars, played with doll houses, and gathered around the farm-themed activity board. Between activities, everyone enjoyed snacks and a quick break before jumping right back into the fun.

What made the visit so special was watching each child engage in their own way, at their own pace, while building confidence, creativity, and friendships along the way. The smiles, laughter, and excitement said it all, our clients had an absolute blast together! 💙

Thank you to Nest Egg Playroom for creating such a welcoming and engaging environment for our clients to enjoy.

Sofia is from Hershey, Pennsylvania and she graduated from ECU with a major in Child Life.

We have had the pleasure of having Sofia as an intern here at Aces for Autism since the beginning of January, and we have the pleasure of welcoming her back as a full-time BT!

Her future post-college plans include starting her master’s program online this Fall at Florida Institute of Technology in hopes of working towards becoming a BCBA. As she works as a full-time BT, she will continue to obtain her hours towards transitioning into an RBT and working within the ABA field.

When asked what she enjoyed the most about her internship here at Aces for Autism she said, “My biggest takeaway has been learning how important patience, consistency, and compassion are when working with children. This experience has helped me grow both personally and professionally, and it reinforces my passion for helping children and families through ABA therapy”.

We are so proud of you, Sofia, and we are extremely lucky to have you as a part of our Aces for Autism family!

Yesterday, our Winterville group headed to Bowlero East Carolina in Greenville for a fun-filled hour of bowling, arcade games, and trying something new! 🎳

With two lanes ready for our group and arcade cards for every client, everyone had the chance to explore both parts of the experience.

Some clients stepped up to the bowling lanes, working together, taking turns, and cheering each other on as the pins went down. Others made their way through the arcade, playing air hockey, shooting basketballs, and testing their luck at the claw machine.

The best part was seeing the excitement as our clients got to visit a new spot and try activities they may not have tried before.

Every roll, every game, and every new experience gave them a chance to have fun, connect with friends, and enjoy being out in the community together.

It was a great day for our Winterville group, full of smiles, teamwork, and new memories! 💙
