Dunean Historical Society Helping to preserve and pass on our historical textile community heritage to this and future generations. Francis Veterans' Day program at TD Convention Center.

Further our community spirit in taking pride in our homes, churches, streets, and memorial garden. 2005 - Dunean Historical Society founded by Beth Roddy.

2006 - 1st Community Christmas tree lighting at the home of Bob and Fran Paris. First community Holiday Home Tour.

2007 - Community Clean-Up Days Started / 2nd Annual Tree Lighting and Home Tour. Dunean Historical Society joins the newly forme

d Greenville Textile Heritage Society.

2008 - World War II Marker moved from rose garden to new memorial garden at corner of Emery and Stevens. Dunean hosts the Greenville Textile Heritage Society's March meeting with 100+ poster display of community's history. Publication of Dunean book: DUNEAN...I Love My Heritage...God, Family, Country, and Dunean Dynamos. Publication of Mush Roddy's booklet: NICKNAMES From Dunean and Other Textile Communities. Community Christmas tree planted in Memorial Garden with first annual tree lighting in our Memorial Garden

2009 - Prayer Labyrinth in Memorial Garden dedicated. Extensive landscaping and bordering done for Memorial Garden. Community Tree lighting with Greenville Textile Heritage Band in concert. Presentation of Dunean Elementary School plate in celebration of school's 85th anniversary opening in 1924.

2010 - Memorial Garden Celebration featuring 13 canon salute to our fallen WWII Dunean heroes. Annual Tree lighting with Home Tours featuring harpists and barber shop quartet. Christmas program included the celebration of the December 1923, opening of historic Dunean gymnasium with its circular balcony.

2011 - Memorial Day Celebration with dedication of Dunean Community's 100th Anniversary Memorial Marker and Memory Walk. Dedication of Korean and Viet Nam markers honoring fallen Dunean heroes with 15 canon salute. Christmas tree lighting with garden outlined with luminaries.

2012 - Memorial Day Celebration with dedication of South Carolina Historical Marker featuring 100th Anniversary of the opening of Dunean's historic "Million Dollar Mill" with 15 canon salute to our fallen Dunean heroes. Christmas tree lighting featuring the Greenville Textile Heritage Chorale in concert.

2013 - Dedication of Dunean Community Vegetable Garden on June 1, 2013. Vegetable Garden is located adjacent to Dunean United Methodist Church. Display of Dunean Memorial Garden at LifeWise Bon Secours St.
