A new year invites us to imagine more—to stay curious, to be brave enough to try, and to keep building even when the path isn’t fully clear.

At Build Carolina, we believe opportunity grows when people do. This year, we’re stepping forward with renewed energy to expand access to learning, strengthen pathways into tech careers, and continue building a more connected, inclusive tech talent ecosystem across South Carolina.

This year, we brought together statewide stakeholders, welcomed new board leadership, deepened relationships with employers, and continued expanding apprenticeship opportunities for learners across South Carolina.

Some highlights from 2025 include:

✨ Reintroduced ourselves as Build Carolina and hosted our brand re-launch event, bringing together partners from across the state

✨ Partnered with 7 host companies for our apprenticeship program

✨ Our mentors contributed 230+ hours of guidance and support across two apprenticeship cohorts

✨ Received interest from 100+ potential applicants for our 2026 apprenticeship cohort

✨ Launched two new apprenticeship pathways: Machine Learning & AI and Cybersecurity

✨ Launched new ways to learn in our Academy with new courses and workshops

✨ Hosted 20+ workshops with 70 registrants from mid-September to mid-December

✨ Our Build Carolina Community Slack racked up almost 30,000 messages sent among 1400+ members

✨ Welcomed 3 new board members

✨ Engaged in meaningful, ongoing conversations with 35+ companies regarding hiring trends

Datacamp Donates helped our learners go further this year.

Through supplemental learning on Datacamp, our apprentices spent 282 total hours building skills across 483 completed units—deepening their understanding and supporting continued growth throughout their apprenticeship.

Exciting news! Build Carolina has just launched a brand-new 8-week course: Intro to Data Engineering with AI: SQL, Relational Databases, and Data Warehousing

AI is reshaping every role — and understanding data is more important than ever. This 8-week, part-time, live virtual course teaches you how to collect, clean, and transform data to power AI, machine learning, and analytics.

Work with real datasets, build pipelines that mirror real-world workflows, and learn from instructors actively working in the field. By the end, you’ll have practical skills, confidence, and portfolio-ready projects you can apply immediately.

As South Carolina’s tech talent resource hub, we’ve spent the last eight years helping people build new careers, supporting employers across the state, and strengthening the fabric of our tech ecosystem. Our work is relational, community-driven, and powered by the belief that opportunity grows when people do — and we’re grateful for the chance to be recognized alongside so many impactful small organizations.

Winning would help us expand awareness, reach more learners, and open more doors for South Carolinians looking to upskill, reskill, or step into tech for the first time. This mission is bigger than us, and we’re honored to do it with the support of our statewide community.
