"Life doesn't have to end with the diagnosis”

For over 25 years Mark Sennet photographed the most recognized faces across the globe including U.S. presidents, the British royal family, sports legends and Hollywood icons. In 2022, he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.

Today he views life through a new lens, which is reflected in a meaningful project he’s working on with his daughter Lauren. The duo is putting together a coffee table book that features his photography from his career and after his diagnosis. He plans to include celebrities and others who have been impacted by Alzheimer’s, as well as physicians and researchers working toward a cure. A recent article in The Post and Courier examines how research news from the Alzheimer's Association International Conference (AAIC) could impact diagnosis and care for those with memory concerns.

Currently, a shortage of specialists in S.C. means time lost waiting for appointments, but new blood tests may help primary care physicians more easily screen for biomarkers of Alzheimer's. At the same time, treatments for those in the earliest stages have just become more accessible.

Learn what these developments could mean for families across the state. 👇

A test looking at a key protein in the blood, combined with a new form of drug therapy that can be administered in the home, opens the way to earlier treatment of Alzheimer’s disease in S.C.

Join us in thanking Congresswoman Nancy Mace for cosponsoring the bipartisan (H.R. 6130)!

This landmark legislation will help accelerate access to blood-based dementia screening and support earlier detection, diagnosis and care for those at risk of Alzheimer's and other dementias.
