Thank you to the Feather River Food Co-op for the Round Up At The Register grant. The community really came through with their small donations. Every time you round up at the register at the Co-Op, it's going towards a wonderful, local initiative. We are blessed to be a part of such a caring community.

Our April "Round-up at the Register" in Quincy resulted in $745.96 raised by the community for the Dixie Fire Canopy Project. We would like to thank the community fo stepping up to help support this important work. For more information, please see their website: https://dixiefirecanopyproject.org/

We had a wonderful time planting coniferous seedlings on Mount Hough with an incredible group of people. It's going to take help from everyone to restore it all, so please sign up for future events like these. But the turnout was incredible.

What an incredible day for Greenville! 🌳💚

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out to support our recent Dixie Fire Canopy Project planting day and tree giveaway event for the beautification of Main Street Greenville and the new Cy Hall Memorial Museum. Seeing community members take home trees to help restore the greenery and beauty of Main Street was truly inspiring.

We also want to give a special thank you to the dedicated members of the Cy Hall Memorial Museum for all of their hard work planting trees and shrubs around the museum property. Your commitment to rebuilding and beautifying Greenville does not go unnoticed, and we are honored to be part of this project alongside you.

Most importantly, thank you to California ReLeaf and Pacific Gas and Electric Company for making this project possible through the Growing Green Communities Grant. Because of your support, we are continuing to put the green back into Greenville one tree at a time. 🌲🌳

We are so grateful for every volunteer, supporter, and community member who helped make this event a success. The future of Greenville is growing greener and brighter, together.

We’re excited to share that the Dixie Fire Canopy Project has been awarded a Growing Green Communities grant through California ReLeaf! 🌱

To celebrate, we’re hosting a Tree Planting & Tree Distribution Event right here in Greenville!

📍 Location: The Spot
📅 Date: May 9
⏰ Time: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

We’ll be planting trees at the new Cy Hall Memorial Museum in Greenville and giving away one tree per Main Street property to help bring shade, beauty, and life back to our downtown.

This is a small but meaningful step in continuing to rebuild and re-green our community.

We also want to give a big thank you to our event sponsor, Pacific Gas and Electric Company, for helping make this possible through their support of the Growing Green Communities program.

We’d love for the community to come out, say hello, and be part of this day together.

If you own property on Main Street, come grab your tree!
If you just want to be part of supporting the effort, we’d love to have you there too.

Let’s keep putting the green back in Greenville!

Join us on May 16th for a day of hands-on restoration and community connection.

Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship is hosting their Quincy Mountain Epic, and the Dixie Fire Canopy Project will be assisting with tree planting as part of the event.

We’re looking for volunteers to help restore the canopy lost in the 2021 Dixie Fire, one tree at a time. It’s a chance to give back, get outside, and be part of something that will benefit one of our favorite recreation sites in Plumas County.

For the tree planting crew:
Meet at the fairgrounds by 8:30 AM
We’ll finish around 2:00 PM

No experience needed. Just show up ready to help. Let’s rebuild the canopy, together.

Martin was such a pleasure to work with. He never hesitated to get out there and put in hard work, or ask the questions that reminded us of why we started this project. We believe he will go on to do amazing things in his life. Thank you for including us in your Senior Project Martin.

Senior Spotlight 🎓💡Martin Flores
Martin is 17 years old and did his senior project with Michaela Trammell of The Dixie Fire Canopy Project. A nonprofit organization helping restore Greenville after the Dixie Fire. Martin’s favorite subject is economics and he also enjoys being on the football and basketball team. For fun he plays pickleball. His favorite high school memory is playing football his junior year. After high school he plans on attending FRC to pursue a degree in sociology.

Today we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his legacy of courage, hope, and collective action. Dr. King taught us to dream big, even when the work feels overwhelming. He showed the world how to persuade without power, leading with truth, compassion, and unwavering purpose. He reminded us that real change happens when we give people something to believe in.

At the Dixie Fire Canopy Project, we carry those lessons forward every day. Restoring our canopy and communities takes courage, especially when fear, loss, and uncertainty still linger. But we choose to embrace fear and be courageous anyway, because the future we’re planting is worth it.

This work is bigger than any one person. It requires all of us to get involved, to stand together, and to act with intention. There is urgency in rebuilding what was lost and nurturing what will grow next, but there is also hope.

Today, may we recommit ourselves to inspiring people, to lifting one another up, and to turning shared dreams into lasting change. Together, we can create a canopy of care, resilience, and renewal for generations to come.

“The time is always right to do what is right.” — Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Lessons from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to carry with you always:

1. Dream big.

2. Persuade without power.

3. Give people something to believe in.

4. Embrace fear and be courageous anyway.

5. Get everyone involved.

6. Create a sense of urgency.

7. Inspire people.

You can find his full speech in the link listed below. We believe it's as important now, as it was then. To forget, is to go backwards.

✨ Last Call for Year-End Giving ✨

As this year comes to a close, we want to pause and simply say thank you. Because of your support, the Dixie Fire Canopy Project has been able to bring green back to places that once stood in ashes. Together, we have planted/distributed over 1,800 trees and nearly 800 pollinator shrubs, helping our communities heal one root, one leaf, and one season at a time

Trees do more than grow. They provide shade for our kids, wind blocks from harsh gusts rolling off the mountains, shelter for wildlife, food for pollinators, and a sense of peace and belonging for all of us who call this place home. A healthy tree canopy means a healthier, stronger community now and for the generations that follow.

If you’ve been thinking about making a donation, this is your last chance to give before the new year. Every gift helps us keep planting hope and restoring what was lost.
