Is there something you’d like to see in your neighborhood? An addition you DON’T want to see? A neighborhood association is the best way to join with others to interact with government to make things happen.

In today’s episode of Simple Civics: Greenville County, Gina Norris Hinton, president of the new Slater-Marietta Neighborhood Association, is interviewed by Channing Banks with Greenville Dreams of United Way of Greenville County to cover how she got involved, what the association has worked on, and what she’s learned.

In this week's session of Simple Civics: Greenville County, Lawson Wetli, president of the Greenville County League of Women Voters, joins us to describe what redistricting means here in Greenville County.

Redistricting happens just once every ten years, and at its core determines who can represent you – in congress, in the legislature, and on city and county councils.

We've launched a podcast!

We believe that many people in our community want to get more involved in local government. But we know they are busy people with jobs, families, and other matters taking their time and attention.

So to make it easier, we've launched Simple Civics: Greenville County, a podcast in partnership with Greenville Partnership for Philanthropy.

Every Tuesday, we will drop a new episode featuring members of NPA and GPP offering short lessons and updates on local government.

Local government should be by the people, for the people, and we'd like this podcast to be the same!

Listen and Follow below!

We're less than a week away from Election Day!

A few weeks ago we held a Greenville County Council Candidate Forum with NPAGreenville and United Way of Greenville County.

The decisions made by Greenville County Council are critical to the philanthropic and nonprofit sector of Greenville County, as well as the communities they serve.

If you were not able to attend the virtual forum, or just want to learn more about our county council candidates as Election Day approaches us, check out our recordings of the conversations and each candidate's full pre-forum questionnaire responses here: https://greenvillephilanthropy.org/greenville-county-council-candidate-foru

We have reached Day 5 of the 21-day equity challenge! Today's theme is the impact of racial trauma on Black, Indigenous, and other People of Color.

Research has linked racism to psychological distress, physical health problems, depression, anxiety, and trauma. The internalization of bias and oppression can cause great distress to minds, bodies, and spirits.

Day 2 of the 21-day equity challenge complete!

Today's topic was Understanding and Reflecting on Our Bias. Research shows that years of structural and cultural constructs have deeply embedded stereotypes into our culture, and consequently into our own subconscious.

Join us in the challenge! Registration closes tomorrow at end of business: http://eepurl.com/g7sqKj
