This one-day, in-person training is designed for nurses, healthcare professionals, deputy coroners, and forensic pathologists to explore organ procurement at the critical intersection of lifesaving donation and medicolegal death investigation.
Participants will gain a practical understanding of the organ procurement process, including how donation saves lives, how it affects the professionals involved, and how organ preservation and evidence preservation align in medicolegal cases. The course highlights the importance of collaboration, communication, and shared responsibility between healthcare teams and death investigators to ensure ethical, legal, and compassionate outcomes.
Through real-world insight and interdisciplinary discussion, attendees will strengthen their ability to navigate organ procurement cases with confidence while maintaining investigative integrity and honoring the gift of donation.This training is offered in partnership with Sharing Hope and the Greenville County Coroner’s Office.
