πΊπΈ What a day to remember! πΊπΈ
We are THRILLED to report that over 1,000 people attended the SC250 Colonial Picnic at Historic Hopkins Farm this past Saturday, May 16th!
β¨Thank YOU to every person who attended, dressed in costume, brought your children, explored history, sang with us, danced, laughed, and celebrated Americaβs 250th together!
βοΈ Blessed with beautiful weather, our community came together for a joyful day celebrating both the SC250 and America250. Seeing families, children, teens, grandparents, and history lovers of all ages gathered together to celebrate our shared South Carolina and American story was very moving, and we are so grateful!
π© We were especially delighted to see so many children and teens arrive in colonial costume and enthusiastically engaging with the dayβs living history experiences. Families enjoyed exploring Camp Flintlockβs colonial encampment, watching fife/drum/musket demonstrations, learning from historical reenactors portraying South Carolina patriots, trying colonial games, listening to live music, watching a live blacksmith, participating in colonial dancing, taking hayride tours down to the historic Battle of the Great Cane Brake site, and more!
π€ This was the largest event our Nathanael Greene DAR Chapter has ever organized, with nearly 50 volunteers from our chapter contributing to bring it to life. We are deeply grateful to every volunteer for all their hard work!
