GOLDEN STRIP SWAMP RABBIT TRAIL EXTENSION // Gravel Installation

Things are taking shape out in Fountain Inn.

Our team recently worked alongside local contractors to lay down 18 dump trucks’ worth of gravel, building up the trail corridor before it is paved and connected to the upcoming DRB development nearby.

Once complete, this segment will help connect neighborhoods, schools, and existing greenway infrastructure. Another step toward a more connected Golden Strip and, eventually, a larger Upstate trail network. Stay tuned for more updates!

NORTH MAIN ROTARY PARK // Bridge Repair

There’s something pretty cool about crossing a bridge in the middle of the city and ending up in the woods.

The AmeriCorps crew has been hard at work replacing decking on the bridge at North Main Rotary Park, helping keep this little pocket of green space accessible for the folks who use it every day.

The small, behind-the-scenes kind of work we love that helps neighborhood green spaces stay welcoming and well-loved.

TEXTILE CRESCENT GREENWAY // Boardwalk Installation

Between Trail Care Day volunteers and the AmeriCorps crew, the Textile Crescent Greenway is starting to take shape.

Over the past week, folks have been clearing debris, spreading gravel, and building sections of boardwalk that will help connect neighborhoods through West Greenville.

Good, steady work. The kind that adds up fast.

Appreciate everybody who’s come out to lend a hand so far!

One of the AmeriCorps NCCC winter-start teams has landed in Greenville and already gotten to work.

Over the next couple weeks, they’ll be helping us out on projects from Caesars Head to West Greenville including work on the Rim of the Gap Trail, the Textile Crescent Greenway, and improvements at North Main Rotary Park.

We’re grateful to have the extra hands and excited to show more of what this crew gets done while they’re here.

TEXTILE CRESCENT GREENWAY // Corridor Clearing

Watching a mulcher eat through bamboo on the future Textile Crescent Greenway? 10/10. No notes.

A whole lot of behind-the-scenes work goes into building trail before people ever take the first walk down it. If you want to help shape this thing from the ground up, come join us Saturday for Trail Care Day. We’ll be spreading gravel, cleaning up corridor, and helping build the first phase of the trail.

Today, all of us here at UGATA wish a happy Mother's Day to all moms out there! From getting kids out on the trails, to taking care of scraped elbows and knees when they happen, we are so thankful for all that moms do every day. We want to give a special shoutout to two moms today: Susan McDonald Davis and Debbie Henry Flege. They are our undisputed #1 social media followers, liking every single post. In fact, here at UGATA, we have an unofficial competition with each post about which of these two will like it first 😂 But more importantly they are the moms of two of our team members, Sam Davis and Matt Hudson-Flege. Thank you to Susan and Debbie for all that you have done, and continue to do, for these two grateful guys!

Volunteer with us as we kick off phase one of construction for the new Textile Crescent Greenway!

This gravel trail will wind through the Brandon Mill side of West Greenville connecting Shoeless Joe Jackson Memorial Park to the surrounding neighborhood and laying the groundwork for a future 2-mile greenway through historic mill communities.

We’ll be wheelbarrowing, raking, tamping gravel, and cleaning up the trail corridor.

Hi [Rep Name],

My name is [Your Name] and I live in [Your Area]. (Reps prioritize voters in the districts they represent)
I’m writing in support of trails as you and the GPATS Policy Committee put together the next Long Range Transportation Plan.

Here’s what am hoping for:
     • Earmark at least 15% of funding for trails
      • Add trails in the following areas:
        [your ideas]
     • Use clear criteria for prioritizing projects (Keeping these three points consistent helps decision-makers spot patterns across emails)

I care about trails because... (Personal stories help decision-makers understand real impact)

Thank you for your time,

UGATA hosted a US Forest Service chainsaw certification for volunteers from the Foothills Trail Conservancy and staff from the Palmetto Trail, getting folks trained up to handle the kind of work that keeps trails open, especially after storms roll through.

A lot of people own a chainsaw. Fewer know how to use one safely.

That’s why we’re glad to share what we know. The more people who know what they’re doing, the more trail we can keep clear and the safer it is for everyone out there doing it. Grateful for partners who show up ready to learn and get after it.
