Servants for Sight

Servants for Sight Servants for Sight provides physical and spiritual sight to those in need in Upstate South Carolina and across the globe.

We provide free vision screenings on our mobile vision van to help those who cannot afford eye exams. Similarly, we connect with our neighbors from under-resourced communities and recruit volunteer practitioners to offer free or low-cost eye exams and cataract surgeries. Our mission is about changing lives through improved vision and by sharing the word of God. Please contact us at [email protected] for more information or to volunteer!

That moment when you've given every ounce to the patients you care about most! 🤣

If you can, pause and pray for strength for the screening team—it's sweltering out there and they pour their hearts into serving our communities with eye care. 😍

Say hello to Mr. EMU! 🚌👁️

EMU stands for Eye-care Mobile Unit — and yes, he’s a “he.” Jonathan, the only guy on our five-person program team, wanted a buddy, so Mr. EMU picked up his name (and a whole personality).

Take a look inside and see the space our patients step into for an eye screening, a moment of prayer, and some gentle eye-health education along the way.

One year ago today, Jonathan began at SFS on an as-needed basis — only four hours a week. At the time he was just driving our mobile unit, lovingly called Mr. E.M.U. (our Eye-care Mobile Unit).

Now, a year on, Jonathan’s a full-time team member who’s taken on huge responsibilities.

My favorite part? We ran 40 screening events last year — this year we’re on track for 80!

That’s what happens when you hire a motivated team player. 🎉

Seventeen years ago today, Servants for Sight's Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws were signed by our founders: James Bailey, CPA, Dr. Jake Bostrom, Dr. Bradley Williams, and Dr. Kurt Heitman. None of them could have known what God had in store for this organization that day. We have all been blown away by what Christ has done through it — the changed lives speak for themselves.

And there's no better way to celebrate than with a vision screening at St. Luke's Free Medical Clinic in Spartanburg! (Which is where we are right now! We love our free clinics!

Join Us for an Evening of Vision and Impact

You're invited to a special evening celebrating the incredible work Servants for Sight is doing — right here in the Upstate and around the world.

We'll share powerful stories from patients and doctors whose lives have been transformed, hear from a founder on the journey that started it all — why SFS began, how it's grown, and the vision that still drives us today — and get a first look at the big plans ahead for 2027.

It's been a remarkable journey, and we can't wait to celebrate it with you.

Come be inspired. Come be part of what's next.
