Congratulations to Libba King on her promotion to the role of Greenville Housing Fund's Senior Vice President of Real Estate and Capital Solutions!

In this new role, King will continue to oversee the agency’s real estate portfolio, as well as coordinate development partnerships and initiatives across the county, including those financed through the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC), while also taking on expanded responsibilities for the implementation of GHF’s updated strategic plan and real estate strategy.

We are excited to have Libba expand her leadership within our organization as we continue to increase our real estate development and community engagement throughout Greenville.

Yesterday GHF shared updates on our two new developments still in construction, Southernside East and West, with Callie Finch, Outreach Director, from the Office of Congressman William Timmons.

The Southernside East apartments are expected to open by the end of 2026, while Southernside West is in the beginning phases of construction!

The GHF team was thrilled to attend and participate in CommunityWorks Carolina's second Upstate Affordable Housing Summit on August 27th. We enjoyed convening with partners and friends from across the Upstate for a day of connection, learning, and collaboration around the challenges and opportunities facing affordable housing.

Our own Amber Stewart moderated a timely panel discussion on the eviction legislation passed during South Carolina’s 2026 legislative session, bringing important perspectives to a conversation with significant implications for housing stability across our state.

We also appreciated a comprehensive economic outlook from Matt Martin of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, who offered valuable context on the economic forces shaping our communities and housing markets. Another engaging panel explored how local support, collaboration, and coordination can drive innovation and success in affordable housing and homeownership. Following the Summit, CommunityWorks hosted an Affordable Housing Practitioner's Workshop focused on how to find and utilize financing tools for getting affordable housing projects across the finish line.

We’re grateful to CommunityWorks Carolina for bringing partners together and creating space for these important conversations. Events like this remind us that building stronger, more affordable communities takes all of us working together.

Today we celebrated the groundbreaking of Southernside West, a 54-unit affordable senior housing community that will provide beautiful, safe homes for seniors earning 30%–80% of Area Median Income (equivalent to about $22k-$60k annual income for a single-person household).

This project reflects what is possible when a community comes together.

Thank you to the City of Greenville for its continued commitment to affordable housing and for donating the land that made this development possible; Harmony Housing Affordable Development for their valued partnership; Creative Builders for bringing this vision to life; Huntington Bank, CommunityWorks, SC Housing, and the Greenville Housing Authority for the critical funding and support, including 14 project-based vouchers that will help ensure those with the greatest need can call Southernside West home.

We’re also honored to build on the historic site of the former Southernside Block Partnership community center, founded by Lila Mae Brock, mother of Councilwoman Lillian Brock Flemming. As the sister community to Southernside East, now under construction nearby, Southernside West will help create more opportunities for longtime Greenville seniors—and those hoping to return home—to live in a connected, thriving neighborhood steps from Unity Park.

A special thank you to the elected officials who joined us to celebrate this milestone: Mayor Knox White, City Councilwomen Lillian Brock Flemming and Dorothy Dowe, Greenville County Councilman Alan Mitchell, State Representatives Chandra Dillard and Paul Wickensimer, and Isabel Montague, representing the office of Senator Tim Scott. Your presence underscores the importance of investing in housing that strengthens our community.

📣Please join us in welcoming Jason Hill, CPA, to the Greenville Housing Fund team as our new Vice President of Finance & Operations! Jason brings extensive experience in nonprofit finance, accounting, and organizational leadership to GHF.

Most recently, he served as Financial Controller at OneSpartanburg, Inc., where he oversaw financial operations across the organization’s chamber of commerce, economic development, tourism, and foundation entities. In his new role at GHF, Jason will lead the organization’s financial management and operational strategy, helping strengthen the systems and processes that support our mission to create and preserve affordable housing throughout Greenville. A lifelong Upstate resident and graduate of Wofford College and Gardner-Webb University, Jason is also deeply committed to community service and currently serves on several nonprofit boards across the region.

We’re excited to have Jason’s expertise, leadership, and passion for mission-driven organizations on the GHF team!
