June 19th is Juneteenth, a day to commemorate the emancipation of the last remaining enslaved people in the United States. However, the fight for Black liberation was not resolved with the end of slavery and the US Civil War, and this day reminds us of the injustice and brutality in our nation's history.

As an organization dedicated to empowering voters and defending democracy, the League is committed to building a future of progress and equity for all.

We just voted, right? Why are we doing it again? Here's why:

✅ In South Carolina, if no candidate gets a majority of the votes cast, a runoff between the top two candidates is required.
✅If you voted in a party primary, you must vote in the same party runoff, so:

🔴 Republican Primary:
SC Governor: candidates Evette and Wilson
SC Attorney General: candidates Goldfinch and Stumbo
SC Secretary of Agriculture: candidates Ford and Simpson
ONLY if you live in County Council District 17: Dill and Forrester

🔵 Democratic Primary:
ONLY if you live in County Council District 23: candidates Aiken and D. Mitchell

✅ Early Voting is June 17-18, 2026
✅ Polls open from 8:30am – 5pm

✅ Election Day is June 23, 2026

➡️ No. If you voted in a party's primary, you may only vote in that same party's runoff.

➡️ Yes. Voters who did not participate in either primary may vote in either party's runoff.

318,602 voters cast ballots during the 2026 early voting period – nearly 200,000 more votes than were cast in 2024's early voting. 📈 🗳️

In total, just 13.59% – or 439,766 – of registered South Carolina voters participated in our primaries in 2024.

When more people participate, our elections better reflect the communities they serve. And with Election Day ✨TOMORROW✨, there's still time to be part of it!
