We are excited to invite families, friends, young qu**rs, older qu**rs, allies and youth to our community Trunk or Treat event. 🕸️

Join us in a in a safe, friendly environment, with awesome trunks, a movie, popcorn & plenty of sweets.🍬🎃🔦 (Costumes encouraged! Adults too!)

We’ve been hard at work getting our new home ready for you! We are on track to welcome our group participants and peer support clients in the new space on October 7th. Stay connected for an announcement about our housewarming party coming soon!! We can’t wait for you to come home ♥️

Who wants to see some progress photos? 👀 Since we signed the lease last week, we’ve been hard at work (especially the chair of our board and master painter Tonya) preparing this space for YOU! And it already looks more like home. The first two photos are of the community room as it was the day we got the building and now, after patching and painting! The second two photos are of the hallway before and after painting. Furniture is moving in, art is being planned, and we are so close to being home ♥️ Please consider donating to our registry, found on our website, today.

We have a new home! This week we signed the lease on a property in the Merovan business complex on Woodruff Road. Our new home has space for all our needs, with room to grow. We’re so excited to continue our programs in one place, once again host events and social programs, and create a safe, accessible, cozy space for our community. Stay turned for our housewarming party coming soon! We can’t wait for you to come home.

September is Su***de Prevention Month. We don’t need statistics to know just how much this disease affects the q***r community. Mental health, belonging, and happiness are a basic need to a full life, and major reasons the QWC exists. We’re here for you, and we’re glad you’re here too.

Between limited practitioners, insurance nightmares, and exorbitant costs, healthcare is harder to access than ever, and q***r people experience more access issues than the average population. So how do we break down those barriers? Let’s chat about the three questions we ask ourselves about any need we encounter:

1. Does a service already that meets this need?
2. Is that service easy to access by our community?
3. If it doesn’t exist, can we make it?

Hi! In case we haven’t met yet, I’m Evie Bates, the new executive director of the QWC. I’m so thankful to the members of our community I’ve chatted with so far, and if I haven’t met you yet, let’s change that! As I hit the ground running with our current programs, as well as dreaming for the future, here are some thoughts about what we do and where YOU fit in the QWC’s mission.

Great news! 🌈 Q***r Wellness Center received a grant from the Milliken & Company Charitable Foundation.

Milliken has been one of QWC’s biggest supporters, and we are so grateful for their continued investment in LGBTQ+ wellness here in the Upstate. This support helps us expand access to affirming care, build stronger community programs, and continue creating a future where all people can feel safe and supported in Upstate SC.

Big QWC news! 🌈✨
We are thrilled to officially introduce Evie Bates (she/her) as the new Executive Director of the Q***r Wellness Center!
Evie brings 15+ years of leadership in healthcare, emergency services, peer support, public advocacy, and LGBTQ+ health equity to QWC. She has led large teams through complex, high-pressure environments, developed wellness and support programs, educated first responders on gender-affirming care, and built community through storytelling, fundraising, and authentic connection.
As QWC steps into this next chapter, we are dreaming big. With so many plans to strengthen our foundation, expand access to affirming services, deepen community partnerships, and grow the care and connection available to LGBTQ+ people across the Upstate, we could not be more excited for what’s next.
And truly, we cannot wait for you to meet her. You are going to love Evie as much as we do. 💚
