The future of the aggregates industry starts with introducing students to the opportunities that exist within it.

This fall, the South Carolina Aggregates Association High School Quarry Tours will give students the chance to experience a working quarry, learn how aggregates support the communities around them, and explore career paths ranging from engineering and environmental science to skilled trades, equipment operation, technology, and business.

Read the full post to learn more about the upcoming tours and why connecting with the next generation matters for the future of aggregates.

Environmental impact is an industry-wide effort.

The SCAA Environmental Awards recognize the companies and operations across South Carolina that are finding thoughtful, innovative ways to minimize environmental impact and demonstrate responsible stewardship.

Our 2025 recipients represent three outstanding examples of that commitment: Heidelberg Materials Pelham Quarry, Vulcan Materials Greenwood Quarry, and Martin Marietta’s Cayce Quarry.

What makes this program especially meaningful is the way environmental stewardship brings our industry together. While every operation and community is different, the goal is shared: finding ways to responsibly operate, protect our natural resources, and leave a positive impact for the future.

Entries for the SCAA Environmental Awards are currently being accepted. If your operation is doing meaningful work to reduce its environmental impact, we encourage you to submit it for consideration.

What’s Ahead for SCAA?

The second half of the year is already shaping up to be a busy one for SCAA.

We are looking forward to welcoming students to our Fall High School Quarry Tours this September and October, gathering with members for our Oyster Roast in October, and bringing the industry together once again for the 2026 Annual Workshop & Exhibit in December.

From connecting with the next generation to strengthening relationships across the industry and creating opportunities to learn, there’s a lot to look forward to.

Stay tuned for more details on these events and everything else happening at SCAA this fall.

Congratulations to the 2026 SCAA Emerging Leaders graduating class!

These 17 professionals have invested in their growth through leadership development, industry education, and a deeper understanding of South Carolina's aggregates industry. From classroom sessions and site visits to building lasting relationships with peers across the state, this cohort embraced every opportunity to learn and grow.

Their journey culminated last week at the 2nd Annual SCAA Mid-Year Meeting at Barnsley Resort, where they presented their capstone projects and celebrated the successful completion of the Emerging Leaders Program.

We are proud of everything this class has accomplished and look forward to seeing the impact they will continue to make within their companies, communities, and our industry.

What a way to close out the 2026 SCAA Mid-Year Meeting.

Our Off to the Races Derby Party sponsored by Luck Stone , Quick Supply Co, and Vulcan Materials Company was the perfect finale to an incredible week, bringing together members and their families for an evening filled with laughter, friendly competition, and unforgettable memories.

From cheering on virtual horse races and celebrating our Golf, Clay Shoot, and Pickleball winners to admiring the incredible Derby attire and spirited bidding during the live auction, the energy throughout the evening was unmatched.

A special thank you to Tyler Covington of Purple Wave Auctions for stepping in as our impromptu auctioneer and making the auction one of the highlights of the night. The final bidding war for the YETI backpack cooler, which climbed to more than $1 million in Derby Dollars, was a moment no one will soon forget. When Purple Wave generously donated a second cooler to the runner-up bidder, it perfectly reflected the spirit of generosity and community that makes the SCAA so special.

Thank you to every member, sponsor, volunteer, and family member who helped make this year's Mid-Year Meeting one to remember. Together, we celebrated, learned, laughed, and strengthened the relationships that continue to move our industry forward.

Until next year.

Not every connection happens in a meeting room.

Tuesday morning at the 2026 SCAA Mid-Year Meeting gave attendees the opportunity to enjoy some friendly competition while taking in the beautiful surroundings of Barnsley Resort.

Golfers spent the morning on the stunning Barnsley Jim Fazio Golf Course, where the Georgia mountain views were just as impressive as the competition.

Meanwhile, members of all experience levels grabbed a paddle for the Pickleball Clinic and Tournament sponsored by Purple Wave Auction. Whether learning the game or competing with friends, the courts were filled with laughter, encouragement, and plenty of memorable moments.

From the first tee to the final point, the morning was another great reminder that the relationships built through the SCAA extend far beyond the classroom.

Day Two continued with an evening centered on gratitude, connection, and time spent together.

During the President’s Reception sponsored by Martin Marietta , we celebrated the past and current leadership that has helped shape the South Carolina Aggregates Association. Guests enjoyed a private bourbon tasting while recognizing Past and Present SCAA Presidents Elliott Botzis, Brannon McGiboney, and Jim Thompson.

The evening then shifted into a relaxed celebration at Pizza, Pints & Play sponsored by Kemper, where members and their families enjoyed wood-fired pizza, lawn games, and time to unwind in the beautiful setting of Barnsley Resort.

The day concluded around the fire at S’mores Night sponsored by Unified Screening & Crushing, bringing friends and family together for one more opportunity to laugh, reconnect, and enjoy the moments that make the Mid-Year Meeting so special.

A wonderful evening of appreciation, relaxation, and togetherness.
