ℹ️ The purpose of “What is an IEP? For Families of School-Age Students” is to gain a foundational understanding of the entire IEP process, including but not limited to, the Committee on Special Education (CSE), the roles and responsibilities of all parties, the various components of the IEP, and the transition planning process.

El propósito de este taller es que los padres, las familias y cuidadores adquieran una comprensión fundamental del Comité de Educación Especial (CSE) y el proceso de desarrollo del Programa Educativo Individualizado (IEP), incluyendo las funciones y responsabilidades del CSE, los diversos componentes del IEP y el proceso de planificación de la transición. Por favor, tenga a la mano el IEP de su hijo si lo tiene; también tendremos copias en blanco disponibles. Revisaremos cada línea del IEP y explicaremos su significado y cómo puede contribuir. Revisarán las herramientas y los recursos que pueden mejorar la participación familiar durante el proceso de desarollo del IEP.

ℹ️ This interactive workshop will provide participants with an overview of universal screening and how to adopt this practice in schools. Content is applicable to work with all general education students within a tiered model of academic support (e.g., MTSS) as well as students receiving special education services. This workshop covers the essential knowledge and skills necessary to understand the importance and core features of universal academic screening as well as modeling and practice with feedback on implementing universal screening. This workshop includes two main components:
Training focused on providing targeted instruction, modeling, and guided practice in implementing universal screening.
An application/work day (optional, but encouraged) for independent practice.

Module 1: Six Models of Co-Teaching
Participants will be able to:
understand co-teaching as a service delivery model.
learn the 6 models of co-teaching and how to effectively implement them.
gain skills for matching the co-teaching models to elements of their lessons.
identify a co-teaching model in a given scenario.
Module 2: Building Your Co-Teaching Team
Participants will be able to:
utilize the unique contributions of co-teaching partners to ensure high quality education and appropriate accommodations for diverse learners
identify key components of an effective co-teaching partnership
describe the three Co’s of co-teaching that contribute to an effective partnership
utilize reflection tools to continually strengthen a co-teaching partnership
Module 3: Planning for Instruction
Participants will be able to:
understand that co-planning is critical to the success of the co-teaching structure
gain knowledge of how to effectively and efficiently co-plan
describe the various types of co-planning that co-teachers might use
co-plan a lesson that uses the co-teaching models to address student needs and provide equitable access for all students

Join us for this online workshop, Alternatives to Suspension (2-Part Series)!

ℹ️ The issue of in and out-of-school suspensions of all students, including students with disabilities, who demonstrate escalated classroom behavior, has become controversial and divisive leaving many staff members at odds. This training package, designed for building level administrators and teachers, is intended to help participants understand that exclusionary practices have significant short and long-term negative effects on academic, social-emotional, health and wellness, and family outcomes of students, and there are alternative approaches to discipline that lead to improved student outcomes. Participants will ground themselves in a common understanding of suspension, removal, and discipline, as well as influences, impacts, policies, and procedures that contribute to the on-going suspension crisis in schools today. Participants will learn and explore effective research-based strategies for responding to student behavior and appropriate alternatives to suspension, which have significantly fewer negative impacts on student or family outcomes.

ℹ️This interactive workshop will provide participants with an in-depth understanding of the transition planning process and the components within a transition-focused IEP. Attendees will deepen their understanding of best practices and evidence-based strategies related to quality transition services and planning.
Participants will:
identify key components of high-quality Transition IEPs and understand the transition planning process
identify key elements of the Present Levels of Performance; transition needs and course of study; the Coordinated Set of Activities; and the components needed to develop and write measurable postsecondary goals
identify the components needed to develop and write measurable annual goals that support each of the measurable postsecondary goals
ensure student participation in the development of a transition IEP and parent involvement in the transition planning process
describe the role of agencies and promote interagency collaboration
be able to directly apply and implement these practices to ensure student success with postsecondary goals

ℹ️Please join us to learn how to foster vocabulary development at home. This interactive workshop is intended for caregivers of preschool and school-age children (with and without disabilities) to learn the importance of vocabulary instruction and ways to incorporate explicit instruction and vocabulary instruction at home. Other participants are welcome to join in consideration of building home-school connections.

Using Transition Assessment Results to Develop the Individualized Education Program (IEP) reviews how to utilize the information gathered through transition assessment to develop quality transition-focused IEPs utilizing two case scenarios to review using transition assessment results to develop the IEP.
