Greenup Meals On Wheels Launched in 2005, our program meets the nutritional needs of those home-bound residents in the Greenup area who are unable to prepare their our meals.

Greenup Meals on Wheels started in August 2005 when a small group of volunteers were made aware of the needs of local elderly and disabled residents needing hot nutritious meals. Starting with a total of $125 and a tremendous amount of faith, the local supermarket agreed to prepare the meals for those in need and allowed the volunteers to pay them back in 30 days. The leap of faith paid off as the

funds were raised thanks to generous citizens and local churches. After five years of passionately working to keep the program alive, their hard work paid off when a grant was awarded in October 2010 that allowed the organization to build their own kitchen and prepare the meals for their recipients.

Our drivers are delivering now. We may or may not be able to reach everybody. They will deliver where they feel safe to do so.

We’re closing tomorrow February 5, 2026. The conditions are still too icy and some of our volunteers are still snowed in.

We had intended on returning to normal service tomorrow but Mother Nature had other plans. According to reports, the roads are very dangerous.

There will be no meal delivery on Wednesday, February 4, 2026.

Greenup Meals on Wheels will be closed tomorrow February 3, 2026. We follow Raceland school district’s decision for closure.

There will be no meal delivery tomorrow. Our driveway has a hill that is still ice covered.
We anticipate improvements in the weather tomorrow and hope to return to normal service Tuesday.

We have assessed some of the more accessible delivery areas and the road conditions are still not clear enough to safely deliver. We have made the decision to close the rest of the week.
We plan on returning to normal services on Monday February 2, 2026.

We are sorry but we will be closed on Wednesday January 28, 2026.

The road conditions are still too dangerous to risk injury to our volunteers. We will assess conditions tomorrow and update then.

Because of the frigid temperatures and road conditions, Greenup Meals on Wheels will continue to be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, January 27, 2026.
