We are located at 412 Main Street in downtown Greenup. Assistance Programs:

Qualified clients are granted food from our on-site food pantry. If available personal hygiene and baby supplies are provided to clients upon request. Christmas Assistance
Helping Hands offers individuals and families food and clothing during the Christmas season. Clients must sign-up for the program in November. Back to School

Helping Hands offers referrals to other agencies as needed. Thrift Store
Helping Hands thrift stores provides gently used clothing, households items and furniture to the general public at low cost. This allows us to assist the working public while helping us meet our mission of assisting needy Greenup County residents. Notary Service
Helping Hands is pleased to have a staff member that is commissioned as a Kentucky State at Large Notary Public to provide this service to all in our community. Utilities
Helping Hands can provide financial aid for utility emergency needs once every twelve (12) calendar months based on funding availability. An emergency situation has to exist within the past 60 days. Payments are made directly to the utility provider. Prescriptions
Qualified clients can receive financial assistance for life sustaining medication purchases when funding is available. Examples of life sustaining medication include, but are not limited to:
heart conditions
blood pressure
diabetes
post-cancer treatment

Narcotics, mood altering and other non-life sustaining medications are not provided. Helping Hands reserves the right to make the final determination as to if a medication is life sustaining. Arrangements and payments are made directly with local pharmacies.

Over the last several years, the repair and upkeep of our food cold storage units have been graciously sponsored by United Way of Northeast Kentucky. This past year, in addition to making needed repairs to our existing equipment, we were able to purchase two combination freezer/refrigerator units. These energy-efficient units have allowed us to replace two older chest freezers and will, hopefully, help us reduce our electric consumption. We appreciate the support that United Way of Northeast Kentucky has provided over the years and look forward to our continued partnership.

We also would like to give a special shoutout to Big Sandy Superstore of Ashland for their help and advice in purchasing the best units for our facility as well as to Slone Refrigeration in Ashland for keeping all our refrigerators and freezers in top-notch shape.
