“Echoes of Earth and Life”  conveys a sense of harmony and interconnectedness between the natural world and living creatures.  It suggests that the landscapes, structures, and life forms reflect and resonate with each other, creating a unified and dynamic tapestry.  The word “echoes” implies a reverberation or continuation, highlighting the ongoing dialogue between the earth’s elements and the life it sustains.  This title evokes a deep appreciation for the beauty and complexity of both nature and life.

Artist Statement:
In “Echoes of Earth and Life,” I delve into the profound connection between the natural world, architectural structures, and the creatures that inhabit these spaces. This collection serves as a testament to the intricate dance between the organic and the constructed, highlighting the beauty and harmony that arise from their coexistence. 

Through images that capture the resilience of nature and the serenity of landscapes, I aim to reflect the unyielding spirit of the earth.  In contrast, architectural elements depict humanity’s influence, showcasing our ability to shape and be shaped by the environment. 

The interplay between life forms reveals the delicate balance and mutual dependence that sustain our world. This collection invites viewers to reflect on the echoes of life and land that resonate within and around us, urging a deeper appreciation for the world we share.

By weaving together these diverse elements, I hope to evoke a sense of wonder and contemplation, encouraging a renewed commitment to preserving the beauty that surrounds us.

Mikel’s exhibit will be on display through August 28 with a closing reception to be held on Sunday, August 30, from 2-4 PM. Stop by Monday-Friday between 1:00 and 5:00 PM to see her stunning photographs!

As we approach the two-year anniversary of our “Peaceful Prairie” mural, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to the talented creator and artist, Inga Ojala, whose vision and artistry brought this spectacular display to life. We also extend a sincere thank you to the 5.4.7 Arts Center for spearheading and coordinating this meaningful project.

Over the past two years, Peaceful Prairie has become more than a beautiful mural. It has provided moments of peace, joy, comfort, and reflection for our patients, guests, staff, and community. We continue to receive wonderful feedback about the mural and the sense of calm and beauty it brings to our campus.

To everyone who helped make this vision a reality—thank you. Your contribution created something truly special, and its impact continues to be felt every day.
