Project Linus - Decatur, Franklin & Ripley counties, IN Our volunteers, known as “blanketeers,” provide new handmade, washable blankets to be given as gifts to seriously ill and traumatized children, ages 0-18.

The mission of Project Linus is to provide children within in our community who are in need of a blanket that is handmade by a wonderful network of "blanketeers". It is Project Linus' policy to accept blankets of all sizes, depending on local chapter needs. All blanket styles are welcome, including quilts, tied comforters, fleece blankets, crocheted or knitted afghans, and receiving blankets in ch

ild-friendly colors. Always remember that blankets must be new handmade, washable, free of pins, and come from smoke-free environments due to allergy reasons.

In Her League was a night full of inspiring stories!
Thanks to all of our panelists, our emcee, our committee, and everyone who came out to support this event to benefit the Fund for Women and Children.
Congratulations to this year's grant recipient, Project Linus! Project Linus "blanketeers" make blankets to comfort Decatur County's children who are staying at the hospital, visiting the soup kitchen, or who are receiving services from other agencies.
Thank you, Project Linus, for making a difference in the lives of our local youth.

I received this on our lake Facebook today. I wanted to share this with all my volunteers. It makes me happy to receive messages about children’s situations being comforted with a blanket from Project Linus.

Our chapter is low on blankets. If you belong to an organization or business that gives employees community service hours, I can setup a day to work on making fleece tie blankets. Please contact me at [email protected] for more information.

Another great blanket making day at first financial bank in Greensburg, IN. Not only did they make 59 blankets, they tagged and bagged the remaining 50 blankets that were made at South Ripley HS last week but we didn’t have time to get them bagged.

At first financial bank’s blanket day the employees also learned how to remove salvage and cut corners along with making the tie blanket.

Last night 30 of the blankets were already delivered to one of the local hospitals day surgery unit.

Thank you for all the volunteers that have a passion to support our Project Linus chapter.

What a fun night at South Ripley High School in Versailles, Indiana helping Avery, a high school junior, complete some of her community hours. Ashley was first involved with Project Linus at HOBY Indiana and wanted to introduce her current community to Project Linus. She received the support of her school to collect money at the basketball games to buy fabric and I found an online company that sold fleece remnants for a great price. She collected enough money to buy fabric for 80 tie blankets. With the help of her family one afternoon/evening they prepared the fabric by cutting it to size and removing the salvage. Last night with the help of student council students, friends, family and teachers in 3 hours all 80 pieces were made into tie blankets. We also were able to get 30 inspected, tagged and bagged for delivery to children in need of a comforting blanket.

A big thank you to Avery for choosing our Project Linus chapter for one of your community service projects at school. Also thank you to everyone that came last night and helped make all the blankets. It was amazing to see the teamwork and excitement as the blankets were being completed.

Please enjoy a few of the photos that were captured last night.

We are sorry to hear Joann’s is closing as this is where almost all of our fleece is bought from. If anyone knows another vendor that has the same quality of fleece at a reasonable price ($4.99/yd) I would be interested in looking into what they offer. If we can’t find fleece at a reasonable price this will limit the number of blankets that can be made which means it will affect the number of children we can provide comfort too.

Thanks for all the lovely blankets that we have received in the past 3 years as you have made a child’s situation a little better by receiving a blanket made with love.
