Break The Chain Kennel Kru

Break The Chain Kennel Kru Break the Chain Kennel Kru assists families with chained dogs in under-served communities. Since we all work full-time, we do our outreach on the weekends.

Based in Greensboro, NC, “Break the Chain Kennel Kru” was launched in January 2016 after completing our first 2 kennel builds. We are a small group of volunteers dedicated to making a difference in the lives of chained dogs. We were recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization on June 6, 2016 (with an effective date of March 31, 2016). We are committed to offering no-cost, chain li

nk kennels (with tarps) to under-served parts of our community, for the purpose of freeing High Point and Greensboro area dogs from permanent tethering. To be considered for our program there are certain requirements which need to be met. Families must be receiving government assistance and must agree to get their animals(s) spay/neutered just to begin the screening process. We ask our kennel recipients to partner with us in building their kennel as well as "pay it forward" by helping build someone else's kennel. It is our hope that every recipient we work with will become advocates for spay/neuter and unchaining in their neighborhood. We will do regular follow-up visits with our Break the Chain families & dogs who need us most continuing to educate them on responsible pet care, heart-worm prevention, etc. Our hope is that the stronger our bond with these families grows, the greater the chance their dog(s) will become closer members of their family and perhaps even inside dogs. Thank you to volunteer Sherry for gifting Dakota some much needed down time in her backyard.

Grateful for our volunteers who help look after him and his mom. Praying that in a week their lives will normalize🙏.

🌞❤️GOOD MORNING FROM MARIBELLE❤️🌞
Her new mom brought her to Cardinal Animal Hospital as that growth on her back leg returned. Last time the Dr aspirated it and put a pressure bandage on and it slowly disappeared. There were no concerning cells at that time. So hopefully this time it's the same.

Look how cute in her little diaper🤗.

🩷🤗HAPPY WEDNESDAY FROM MEGAN & WAZEER🤗🩷

We are so grateful Megan was home and offered to transport Wazeer to Hounds Town Greensboro - Guilford. She has been attending NC State & works in Raleigh so she doesn't get the opportunity to volunteer much anymore.

Thank you to our donors for making Wazeer's stay possible. She is only 2 and spends alot of time inside their small home providing companionship for her dad who has been ill. We are grateful that she was given a week to get some energy out - especially being a young rottie🙏.

🌞🌷🌳HAPPY MONDAY FROM DAKOTA🌳🌷🌞
Thank you to volunteer Rachel for taking Dakota on a park outing this afternoon. She shared;

Dakota and I had a lovely walk today! He was happy to get out in the fresh air and sniff lots of plants and flowers. He was very interested in the creek, but we did not venture into the water. It was a pleasure spending time with Dakota❤️

🌞🌷THANK YOU TO THESE WONDERFUL VOLUNTEERS🌷🌞

This group of volunteers worked hard to refresh Wazeer's kennel. They had to replace the pallets and refresh all the straw. This was no fun job!

So very grateful🙏.

🎓 🩷🎉CONGRATULATIONS TO ADOPTABLE RUFUS🎉🩷🎓

Rufus has officially graduated from his 1-Week Board & Train program with volunteer Pam of Winston Salem Dog Trainers: Off Leash K9 Training and is showing off some impressive off-leash obedience!

When Rufus arrived, this sweet 6-year-old boy from Rockingham County Animal Shelter-Reidsville, NC was ready for a fresh start. In just one week, he learned all of his basic obedience commands and developed reliable off-leash recall. His intelligence and eagerness to learn made him a joy to work with every day.

Today, Rufus was reunited with his foster family, and they quickly learned how to continue building on the foundation he has established. Consistency and follow-through are key, and Rufus is set up for success!

Rufus is proof that it's never too late to learn new skills. He is an incredibly sweet, smart boy who deserves a family of his own. We are so proud of everything he accomplished this week and can't wait to see what his future holds🙏.

Thank you to a special donor for making this possible🩷.

🤗🩷GOOD EVENING FROM MARIBELLE🩷🤗
Tonight I had the chance to visit Maribelle and her wonderful new parents. I wanted to personally give them something special to thank them for all the love, patience, and care they have shown Maribelle — especially only two weeks after the heartbreaking loss of their beloved dog, Stevie. 🕊️

Maribelle came to us carrying so much trauma that had deeply affected her health. She was suffering from a severe skin infection, double ear infections, allergies, and serious bladder issues. Truthfully, I worried that finding a family willing to take on all of her medical needs would be very difficult. Bringing a new dog into your home is already a big adjustment, but caring for one who could not control her bladder made it even more challenging.

What began as a foster commitment slowly became something much deeper. While Maribelle was grieving the loss of her dad, this family was grieving the loss of Stevie. In many ways, they helped heal each other🙏.

Today, Maribelle’s medical issues have resolved, and the difference in her is incredible. She feels safe. She feels loved. She finally has the comfort and stability she deserves.

A heartfelt thank you to my talented friend Beth from Dogs Rock for creating such a beautiful and meaningful gift for their family. They were truly touched.🩷

🤗🩷HAPPY WEDNESDAY FROM DAKOTA🩷🤗
Our sweet boy is feeling much better. No vomiting since yesterday morning. He is eating, drinking, bloodwork and exam normal.

His mom is going through a very stressful living situation that we are trying to help with. It is affecting Dakota's health too which makes her and us so sad🥲.

Tomorrow Dakota will go to Hounds Town Greensboro - Guilford for a week so he can play. We are hoping next week their living situation improves so they can both live in peace in their own home🙏.

Thank you to Cardinal Animal Hospital for getting him in yesterday. All this made possible by our generous donors🩷.

This morning was very stressful as I dealt with 2 BTCKK dog emergencies while also working. Dakota was very sick and I just couldn’t find transport for him from his home in HP to Cardinal Animal Hospital. My last resort was asking Rahki’s mom Cynthia (who was at the hotel near my office). Without hesitation her & son Nick took off to get Dakota! They saved the day for me and Dakota's mom who was crying and worried🙏.

Cynthia was so grateful to have an opportunity to pay it forward for all who have donated towards their hotel room so they can be together. She texted "You have all been angels to us!"

Please consider donating to help me reach my goal for his precious family. Every bit truly makes a difference. My goal is $1500.00 (nightly rate averages $110/night with breakfast and full kitchen. Hotel is not charging me the nightly parking fee.) Trying to not use BTCKK funds as I fight to keep that going.

I just want to say again; thank you to everyone who has supported us over the past 10 years. Your kindness has helped so many BTCKK families through some of their hardest moments, and it truly means more than words can
express. 🩷

🥰Look at their transport photo for a dog they never met before. It brought tears and was such a powerful moment. I will share Dakota's update tomorrow.🥰
