Based in Greensboro, NC, “Break the Chain Kennel Kru” was launched in January 2016 after completing our first 2 kennel builds. We are a small group of volunteers dedicated to making a difference in the lives of chained dogs. We were recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization on June 6, 2016 (with an effective date of March 31, 2016). We are committed to offering no-cost, chain li
nk kennels (with tarps) to under-served parts of our community, for the purpose of freeing High Point and Greensboro area dogs from permanent tethering. To be considered for our program there are certain requirements which need to be met. Families must be receiving government assistance and must agree to get their animals(s) spay/neutered just to begin the screening process. We ask our kennel recipients to partner with us in building their kennel as well as "pay it forward" by helping build someone else's kennel. It is our hope that every recipient we work with will become advocates for spay/neuter and unchaining in their neighborhood. We will do regular follow-up visits with our Break the Chain families & dogs who need us most continuing to educate them on responsible pet care, heart-worm prevention, etc. Our hope is that the stronger our bond with these families grows, the greater the chance their dog(s) will become closer members of their family and perhaps even inside dogs.
