Break The Chain Kennel Kru Break the Chain Kennel Kru assists families with chained dogs in under-served communities. Since we all work full-time, we do our outreach on the weekends.

Based in Greensboro, NC, “Break the Chain Kennel Kru” was launched in January 2016 after completing our first 2 kennel builds. We are a small group of volunteers dedicated to making a difference in the lives of chained dogs. We were recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization on June 6, 2016 (with an effective date of March 31, 2016). We are committed to offering no-cost, chain link kennels (with tarps) to under-served parts of our community, for the purpose of freeing High Point and Greensboro area dogs from permanent tethering. To be considered for our program there are certain requirements which need to be met. Families must be receiving government assistance and must agree to get their animals(s) spay/neutered just to begin the screening process. We ask our kennel recipients to partner with us in building their kennel as well as "pay it forward" by helping build someone else's kennel. It is our hope that every recipient we work with will become advocates for spay/neuter and unchaining in their neighborhood. We will do regular follow-up visits with our Break the Chain families & dogs who need us most continuing to educate them on responsible pet care, heart-worm prevention, etc. Our hope is that the stronger our bond with these families grows, the greater the chance their dog(s) will become closer members of their family and perhaps even inside dogs. Rahki's family is doing well. They had to move in with family until they are able to get their own place again. Rahki & Lola have been able to learn how to coexist which was our main concern🙏.

STARTING TO FEEL HOPELESS 💔AFTER 148 DAYS & 271 SHARES, ADOPTABLE NAMI IS STILL HAS NO FAMILY😭 PLEASE SHARE HER🙏

Wanted to share some photos of Nami when she spent some time with family friends. She did great in the car, on walks and even at The Buckle in Friendly Center. Since then she has graduated from her week of board & train.

Here’s a little more about this beautiful girl:

🐾 Approximately 2 years old

🐾 Approximately 55 lbs

🐾 Spayed & fully vetted

🐾 Crate trained and does well in her crate at night

🐾 Does well with both kids and adults

🐾 Dog friendly and non reactive to cats

🐾 Graduated from her week of board & train having learned commands, recall, etc

🐾 Smart, loving and eager to learn!

🏡 NAMI WILL NEED A FAMILY WHO:
• Can financially provide for her care
• Will keep her mentally and physically challenged
• Will continue reinforcing her training
• Owns a home with a fenced-in yard where she can safely play and enjoy some off-leash time

Thank you to volunteer Rachel for gifting Nami a park outing today! She shared the following;

Nami and I had a great afternoon🌞. She was very excited to get out for a walk around Hamilton Lakes and greeted a few people along the way. We also visited Starbucks and got her a pup cup which she absolutely loved😋! She rode well in the car and was happy to get some individual attention! She is a sweet girl who needs a loving home🙏!

🙏💔ONE WEEK AGO TODAY WE LOST OUR BELOVED FRIEND & VOLUNTEER FRANCES💔🙏

It has been a heartbreaking week for our Kru. It's still so hard to believe Frances is gone🥲. Some have asked about making a donation in her memory. If you would like to do so, you can donate the following ways;

🐾 We are currently helping a senior, disabled BTCKK owner who needs assistance with bills. If you would like to help her, you may donate directly to my Venmo -Mayon. I pay her bills using my personal credit card. Thanks to those who have already donated.

🐾❤️GOOD MORNING FROM MEGAN & GRANDPA FIDO! HER FIRST VOLUNTEERING EXPERIENCE WAS WITH FRANCES🙏

Megan first met Fido a few years ago when she accompanied Frances on her very first transport. Little did she know that this would be the beginning of her journey with BTCKK! 🐾

Megan went on to spend countless hours volunteering with us before heading off to NC State, where Fido now lives with her! 🎓🐶❤️

This sweet boy spent almost 9 YEARS living outside in the most heartbreaking circumstances.🥲 Today, he is finally living the life he always deserved — surrounded by love, comfort, and
care. 🏡

And that first photo of the three of them? 🥹 Those BIG smiles say it all! What a beautiful memory of Megan, Fido, and Frances together. 🙏

There is something so special about the connections made through rescue, and how one act of kindness can change so many lives. Frances helped plant the seed, Megan's heart grew with it, and Fido found his forever home. ❤️🐾

Frances, your love continues to live on in the lives you touched and the lives you helped change.🌈

🙏💔REMEMBERING OUR BELOVED FRIEND AND VOLUNTEER FRANCES💔🙏

Frances loved helping us at events. She volunteered at All Pets Considered, many Dining for Dogs at Cafe Pasta, our annual Chili Cook-off, the fall event at Best 4K9 Oak Ridge and many others.

Frances was known for bringing her homemade sconces, dog biscuits, several flavors of cornbread, brownies and Pineapple Upside Down Cake. All absolutely delicious😋!

Still so hard to believe she is gone😭. Please look through the many photos of her🙏.
