The Green Team Helping Hands, Inc The Green Team Helping Hands; a 501c3 non-profit organization that provides food to those in need. The Green Team Helping Hands, Inc. in May 2012. Join Us!

is a non-profit organization that is an active front line advocate for the homeless and hungry. Currently, Greensboro, NC holds the number ONE spot in the nation for the largest food shortage. The Green Team accommodates families and homeless individuals with meals, proper clothing, and basic toiletries needed on a day-to-day basis. We started out feeding 18 people each week; today, we are feeding

over 300 men, women and children weekly! Without organizations like The Green Team, people would have a harder time feeding their families. Many organizations nationwide feed the homeless, but The Green Team is unique. The Green Team does not just care about the homeless; we call them our friends, our friends in need. On occasion, we raise funds for pizza dinners and grooming sessions. We are never late and we enjoy taking selfies with everyone we come across to show them just how much we really care. was established by Greensboro, NC native, Ashley Benton. In 2009, Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver, Chris Henry, died following a tragic accident. Chris’ mother, Carolyn Henry Glaspy, made the courageous decision to donate his organs, and Ashley Benton’s father, James Benton, was one of those recipients. Ashley was so touched by this gift of life for her father that she decided to “pay it forward” following her father’s passing two years later. Having been raised by a loving family that always cared for others and having experienced homelessness herself, Ashley created The Green Team Helping Hands, Inc. Her dream, vision and lifelong purpose are to continue expanding the work internationally across the United States, Mexico and Canada. The weekly volunteers devote their lives to being beacons of light for others and you become one too.

Today our CEO was faced with something unimaginable…

Backstory…
75 year old woman in Greensboro HOMELESS!!! This is insane Greensboro! She said she just got out of the hospital yesterday and she does has a wristband on. Greensboro please help. It’s too hot for her to be 🙏🏾outside. I seen her barely walking across the parking lot at Roses on Cone Blvd. If you know of any resources PLEASE HELP! I can not leave her! I brought her on the inside. I’m waiting on EMS to get here to check her out.. She does have a car but she’s all alone and should NOT be sleeping in her car and again barely walking!
It’s hard to get in contact with anyone over the weekend here but if anyone has any resources again please reach out to me ASAP! She was released from Moses Cone hospital yesterday with no where to go!
Please help anyway that you can. 👍🏾💚💚💚

Fast forward… from our CEO

Update… Ms. P the 75 year old homeless woman that I met a Roses on Cone Blvd is taken care of!!
The Story… from our CEO…

I was on my way to the store when I decided to stop by Roses to check out their sandals. After leaving I sat in my car and watched this elderly lady struggle to walk across the parking lot. I offered her assistance. She started to cry and advised me that no one had stopped or asked if she needed any help. I can attest to that because I watched people walk past her. She needed help. I thought to myself, “What has happened to humanity?”
To make a long story short I ended up walking her around the store to help her with her items. She had on a hospital bracelet so I asked her about it. That’s when she told me that she was homeless and had been sleeping in her car for a month!
She was so frail and hot. I called EMS and they assessed her and made sure that she was ok.
We ended up getting her into a room until Friday!
Thank you all who helped! You all are so amazing! This one touched my heart so much because I have a mom that’s 75! God put me in the right place at the right time! We got you Ms. P!!!
Thank you all that donated to get her food! I’ll be shopping for her tomorrow! 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾👍🏾💚💚💚

💚 Feeding Hearts, Filling Bellies: Another Beautiful Sunday with The Green Team Helping Hands 💚

Yesterday, May 31, 2026, our team had the absolute privilege of doing what we love most—serving our community.
There is a unique kind of magic that happens when people come together to take care of one another. As we handed out warm meals, shared smiles, and connected with our neighbors, our hearts were completely full.

"We often say we are out there to give, but the truth is, we receive so much more in return."

The pure joy that comes from serving our community is hard to put into words. It’s in the shared laughs, the quiet "thank yous," and the deep sense of connection that reminds us we are all in this together. No one should have to worry about where their next meal is coming from, and as long as we are able, The Green Team Helping Hands will be right here, showing up with open arms and full plates.
Thank you to every volunteer who showed up, every donor who made yesterday possible, and every neighbor who allowed us into their space. You are the heartbeat of this team.
Together, we aren't just feeding the hungry—we are fueling hope. ✨
