StepUp Greensboro

StepUp Greensboro StepUp Greensboro Motivates, Empowers, and Equips individuals to become self-sufficient and stable through Employment and Life Skills.

StepUp Greensboro prepares people who are ready, willing and able to make positive changes in their lives for jobs and more stable lives. Our programs help people living in poverty and those who are homeless, including veterans, the formerly incarcerated and families with children. We believe that every person has the right to work and access to a better life. We believe that people can change if

they have the desire and will. We acknowledge that empowerment is a far more powerful strategy for change and success than enabling. We expect honesty, discipline and fairness of ourselves and others. We encourage accountability and responsibility from all involved. We honor diversity and understand that every individual has a voice. We are committed to collaboration with others because few problems can be solved alone. We strive to be careful stewards of human and financial resources.

Our Lunch & Learn event today focused on connection over us sharing photos of the event. The session brought together individuals from various backgrounds, fostering a sense of community through shared stories and a collective purpose. The event highlighted the importance of conversation, compassion, and connection in creating lasting impact. Prospective volunteers connected on a deeper level, stories became bridges to understanding, and our mission became even more defined.

Listen as our Case Manager Ms. Dorothy shares an example of the # Me, Myself & I” is a powerful self-reflection activity inspired by Iyanla Vanzant cards that encourages participants to look deeper within themselves through images and conversation. It creates space to reflect on where they are now, envision their future, and reconnect with their purpose, strengths, and potential.

Let’s revisit the memories of our 150 classes. It was a tremendous surprise to encounter one of our inaugural participants who completed our first Job Readiness Training. Mr. Russell, you were the highlight of our celebration, making it an exceptionally wonderful surprise.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Salvation Army Red Kettle for inviting StepUp Greensboro to participate in and sponsor a hole at their annual fundraising golf tournament. StepUp Greensboro was well-represented by Board Chair Nancy Godwin, Board member Steve Finger, and Programs Director Morris McLaughlin. We appreciate the partnership and acknowledge Love and Faith Christian Fellowship for bringing their team to join us in this event.
