Golfer Spotlight: Laurie Draper & Family

We love seeing golfers sign up for the Holden Trent Goal 13 Golf Tournament, especially when their connection to Annie B and Holden’s legacy makes this day even more meaningful.

Laurie and Annie B were roommates for four years at Wake Forest and have been dear friends for 40 years. Laurie and her family are thrilled to be participating in this year’s tournament in support of Annie B and her dedication to carrying on Holden’s legacy through Goal 13.

Saturday night was another beautiful reminder of the incredible partnership between Carolina Core and Goal 13.

We are so grateful for Carolina Core’s generous donation and continued belief in our mission. Their support helps Goal 13 continue to grow, allowing us to reach more young student-athletes through character education, mentorship, and programming that supports them beyond the game.

What started as a way to honor Holden’s memory continues to grow because of partnerships like this one. We are deeply thankful for Carolina Core, their players, staff, and the community they are helping us build.

Together, we are continuing Holden’s legacy and helping young athletes grow on and off the field.

Year One. What a journey.

Monday marked our final session with the U13, U14, and U15 Carolina Core FC Academy players—and what a way to end it.
From day one, these young men have shown up, put in the work, and grown tremendously—on the field and even more importantly, off of it.
Tonight focused on fueling the body and the purpose behind it—building healthy meals and snacks for peak performance, and taking time to write their own legacy statements in our character education class.
This inaugural year for Goal 13 has been nothing short of special.
So proud of each of these players and all they’ve become.
We’re just getting started—and we can’t wait to continue this journey with Carolina Core.

The goalkeeping community truly shows up for each other. Thank you to the Carolina Core FC goalkeeping group for gifting a special jersey to Annie B, Holden’s mom and Goal 13’s Executive Director. She felt so supported and is incredibly grateful for the special surprise. This meant more to her than you know🤍

Goal 13 is proud to recognize our first group of student-athletes to complete our character education program — the U15 Carolina Core Academy players. This year long program has included intentional mentorship and structured development through monthly workshops, consistent mentor engagement with a focus on accountability, resilience, integrity and purpose.

These young men have demonstrated a commitment to growth, character and doing the right thing, even when it’s not easy.

As a symbol of their achievement, each player, along with their mentors, will receive a special Goal 13 sweatshirt — reserved only for those who complete the program.

Please join us in congratulating these outstanding young men and their mentors on a job well done.
