FNB GSO has been doing weekly distros of vegan meals across the city for close to 30 years, and we've maintained our pantry for the past two. As of March 31, 2026 we are leaving our current pantry space and transitioning into our new location on ETC's property (on the corner of Grove and Portland). Working with our lovely comrades at ETC will allow us to maintain a 24/7 pantry in Glenwood and continue our weekly distros.

THANK YOU

Documenting our last spaghetti dinner distro at the old Fl St pantry location. We feel pride in the way we were able to transform this old stew hut and car port into a 24/7 free pantry and make connections with Glenwood neighbors and passersby’s. We added a sink to wash hands, veg and dishes. We had a place for people to charge their devices. In the winter we had warm clothes available for folks and a kettle to provide hot coffee and tea. We made compost for the community garden out back and for several of our home gardens as well. We made the space work for feeding the community, and the community thanked us by having our backs when the city swept the pantry. We built back then, and we will build back even better at the new pantry location on Grove St in ETC back yard. To the old pantry space we say “Thnks 4 the memories” and to those who came and ate and cleaned with us we say “Thank you for showing us what mutual aid really is”

The new pantry will be setting up in backyard at ETC. so we aren’t interfering with their fantastic events too much. Of course currently the backyard is mostly just that - yard. No shelter for our fridges, no roof for our visitors to stay out of the rain/sun while they get food, no separate area where we can keep our supplies and dry goods.

That’s where this fundraising campaign and community support comes in!!!!!!!

In order to get the pantry back up and running we need to buy/score/build two garden sheds to serve as our structures that keeps everything dry. Garden sheds need a foundation, a floor, lights and electricity, and more before we can set up fridges to feed folks.

We are leaving a complex situationship with the city, but the old Fl St location had a lot of perks: giant carport, a stew hut/storage space, a hose & spigot, power outlets, cement floors, and an unused parking lot. We will miss this space.

Join us on this reimagining of this pantry project and help us grow into our next phase ~~together~~! ❤️

We are hoping for donations to reach our fundraising goal of $3,000 to get the pantry up and running at its new location at Etc on Grove St. This includes moving costs, money for the structures (sheds), electrical and water hookups, foundation and flooring. We know financial support can be a big ask, and we will have volunteer days in upcoming weeks during our move for those who can’t financially contribute now. We have big dreams for this pantry, and are grateful for the continued support of our Greensboro community as we work to feed our neighbors and reduce food waste. We love you!!!!! And we love .gso!!!!!!! And we love !!!!!!! Thank you for allowing us into that you do

We are honored and forever grateful to be offered a partnership with Etc on Grove St to continue our mission of feeding the people of Greensboro. Working with the lovely folks at Etc will allow us to maintain the free pantry at a location still in the Glenwood neighborhood, and honestly will open up our mutual aid capacity even further. Sometimes things really do work out, and even turn out better than before ✨ Big thanks to Etc for allowing us into their space, and to GSO Mutual Aid for their continued support and guidance in fundraising. Stay tuned for fundraising and volunteer opportunities to help get the pantry up and running at Etc

As the city is selling the plot, the Florida St Pantry will be moving locations by the end of this month.

The community has expressed how important this resource has been to keeping folks in the area fed. We have been humbled by the tactfulness and generosity of neighbors offering solutions, shared space and partnership.

Final details are pending, but we are so excited to continue this project in mutual aid with you all!

It feels important to keep the pantry functioning as much as possible during the transition to a new location, but this is going to require some extra helping hands.

We are tentatively putting out a call for helpers! More details to come as 🔜 as they’re finalized.

If you can be available to help with moving, construction of a shelter to house a fridge, or if you can help with plumbing or electricity, please be in touch!

Also if you have any potential leads on funds, garden sheds, pull-behind cargo trailers, or window A/C units, please let us know!

Another huge thank you again to our Greensboro family for many years of FNB support. We owe it to each other to continue to build together and keep each other safe, healthy, and nourished

Most health savings accounts will not roll over funds to the next year, and many folks are looking for ways to use the money left in that account before the year is up. If you find yourself saying “I just don’t know what to spend this on but I don’t wants the funds to just expire!!!” please consider a shopping spree at your local pharmacy for eligible hygiene and first aid supplies that your neighbors could use. We can keep each other safe, fed, happy, and healthy if we just try
